I don't know if someone mentioned this.. but for those who are thinking about retrofitting or replacing r12 compressors with r123a compressors, the 1997-2001 Integra(all models) uses the same compressor.. the only difference is in the manifold plate on top.. you can easily order that separate from the dealer; you can't reuse the r12 manifold though.

This might be useful in ordering rebuilt compressors or even shopping at a junkyard as compressors out of a, say 2001 Integra is nearly brand new if the car had low mileage and the A/C system was never open to the atmosphere. And it won't carry a heafty price tag.

You don't need to replace the compressor to convert your NSX to R-134a. Everything you do need, other than the R-134a refrigerant, comes in the conversion kit (Acura part number 38020-SM4-A1AH) which costs around $60.

Why do you think you cannot reuse the manifold? It is easily swapped onto the new compressor.

I have never heard of any r12/r134a compatability issue with the manifold. It is a change in the freon type using the same system. The only precaution is always replacing the receiver/dryer along with the compressor.

The manifold relates to the position in the car and how the A/C lines run in the chassis, if I understand it correctly.

Please fill me in about info to the contrary.

Thanks,
