Question: Using Floor Jack

Make sure you get a compact floor jack that will fit under the NSX. There's only about 5" of clearance and most jacks won't fit. Sears has a great one that's pretty inexpensive.
Yep, nice little jack, comes with a carry case and has a 3-1/2" starting height (if it's the one I have). Even then, 3-1/2 inches is tight with my OEM wheels and track tires.

It shouldn't be. As noted above, the clearance is about 5 inches, and that would be true of OEM wheels and OEM sized track tires. If 3.5 inches is tight, then your car must be lowered with aftermarket suspension parts.

Nope, no aftermarket suspension. Maybe I just recall the jack height wrong.

Yeah, I was wondering if anyone else noticed that. I sent Larry a note, but he must be out tonight. And it's 5.3 for the 3.0-liter, 6.7 for the 3.2-liter. Mix the two together and you get... a synthetic blend. ;)
nsxtasy: I believe the manuals recommended engine oil capacity (including filter)for the 3.2 engine is 5.3 US qts. When I change the Oil and filter I only add 5qts because of two reasons. (1) By changing the oil myself I have discovered that you always leave some oil in the engine approximately .7 qts because 5 qts always puts the oil on the dip stick mark perfect every time. I check the oil every morning before I start the engine and its always on the mark.(2)Just lucky that recently the oil can be purchased in a 5 qt container, so no more partially full qt containers and makes it easer to drain the used oil back into same container for disposal.

Check them again and I think you'll find they say 6.7 for the 3.2-liter engine, just like the specs do. The 5.3 quart specification is for the 3.0-liter engine.

I am looking at the 2000 owners manual now and it says 5.3 US qt (5.0L ,4.4 Imp qt) I'm sure that's a mistake in Prime or wherever the spec sheet was produced. If I used your spec I would overfill by almost two quarts. (6.7 QUARTS IS FOR ENGINE OVERHAUL)If 6.7 quarts of oil for overhaul is correct that will calculate approximately 1.7 qt is left in the engine because 5qts is all it takes to put oil to the full mark. Makes me want to flush engine every oil change.

OK, 32 posts and everyone seems to want to talk about oil capacity. Can anyone answer the original poster's question about scraping with ramps?

What I mean is, will the front end scrape if I use ramps when I BACK up the car onto them for an oil/trans fluid change?

It depends on the height of your ramps. Backing up an NSX with 97+ lip spoiler and stock suspension onto Rhino Ramps will not cause the front end to scrape. I've done it many times. Backing up onto the typical steel ramps found in auto parts stores may yield a different result.
