Hey guys,

I was going over the 97 model year changes in the faq and I had a question.

Did the 3.0L engines (on the automatics) get the new exhaust manifolds, cylinder linings, larger intake valves, new head gaskets, larger connecting rod bearings and numerous emission control system changes?

Also, I assume that brake, suspension and ECU changes are always universal, right?

Thanks and sorry if this is a silly question

No.

I would assume that the brake and suspension changes would apply to both models. The ECU changes might be specific to the engine.

The ECU's are different. The brakes are the same. As far as the valves go, I think the intakes are all that changed from 3.0 to 3.2.
But the valves are differnt from 6sp to auto. (Intake if memory serves me correctly).
The emmissions stuff is on both the 3.0 and the 3.2 and the exhaust system is changed from the old manifold to the new factory header. I may be wrong here, but I think the sleeves are still ferrous casting in the 3.0's.
Here are some other differences from 3.0 to 3.2 in 97.
Valve springs
cams
Idle speed.
pistons (DUH)
Barn Man...

Thanks guys!

So a 98 3.0 have the new headers?
