Is anyone familiar w/ clothes shopping in Italy. If I buy designer stuff over there, will I save money ( compared to buying it at high end stores here in the U.S.) or does the Dollar/Euro exchange make prices about the same ?

When we were there prices seemed pretty high. I think exchange rate was around .77 euro per USD.

Honestly unless you are going to go to the Prada outlet (I hear there is one) I didn't think the prices for name brand stuff was that great. Now non-well known italian brands had a lot of style and decent prices.... but that was not your question:wink:

Have fun, I would love to go back!!!!

Europe generally is much more expensive than US (for pretty much any consumer product) and when you take exchange rate into equation makes it quite prohibitive.
I travel to Europe frequently (10-12 times per year) & rarely buy anything there unless it is something I simply cannot get here. I won't even buy duty free in Europe as it's no bargain either.

I am 150 pounds and can probably fit in a large suitcase, I will gladly pay the overweight carry-on fee:biggrin:

I was in roma a few years back. You may not save that much money but there are just different stuff over there.

Overall if you visit all the little shops you will see that quality is better overall on products. except for maybe shoes, Leather goods are not cheap at all..

Ken is spot on. The prices you pay in Europe are astronomical. We're leaving tomorrow morning for the holidays. I promise you, I will not be buying anything except gas for the rental car, and that's going to cost me about $8.00 a gallon.

Enjoy the trip.
