Put on the new tail piece..

I like it! Replaced the old "ACURA" with the new symbol. It really updates the look I think. I would do the 2002 rear valence, but I don't think it works with the Anytime Exhaust.

I bought the new piece from Russ on here for 120 bucks. I think it is like about $150 new.

I really love the look. I wanted to replace the center caps in the wheels with the "A" symbol also, but 1) they are too damn expensive and 2) they don't make them in the color of my wheels.

For cars sold in North America, the OEM 7 spoke wheels came with center caps with the name ACURA spelled out, rather than the A symbol. I don't know if they changed it to the A symbol at some point, but I know this was true for the '95 wheels I have. Or, at least, it was, until I swapped my caps with Giuseppe's. Now mine have the H symbol, and his have ACURA spelled out. Or, they did, until he sold his car.

Also true with the 98 rims I have until I swapped them out for the billet NSX caps:D I thought it wasn't until the updated 17/17 02+ rims that the caps changed to the A symbol.

So, I guess most of the 7 spoke wheel owner rather have the A symbol over the word acura. So I'm the lucky one with the A symbol  .

I think they went to the "A" symbol in 2000. Those wheels are silver, and mine are gunmetal grey (I think).

I guess I just need to get silver wheels.

Who wants to trade? :)

And now they are mine....my precious :)

NetViper: I would be curious also to see if the anytime exhaust tips will fit the exhaust openings on a 2003 rear valance. Have you done any research yet or have done any measurements?

Also, I remember you having the Taitec GT Lightweight before the Anytime system. Any personal critiques or comparisons between the two? I was leaning towards the Lightweight for its nice deep refined but not overbearing sound. But I like the dual tip look of the Anytime system. What are your opinions between the two? TIA for your reply.

As I recall, ANYTIME himself said it is for the pre 02+ valance, but they were working on a single tip version that will work on the 02+. I don't know if they have it out yet or will have it out soon. Hopefully he will come by and clear things up because I too am waiting for the single tip version since I'm upgrading to the 02+ rear valance. Then again, I'm curious to find out how the Paddock exhaust compares since it is about $800.

I don't think we will see a single tip anytime soon. But maybe. I acutally love the twin tips. Looks great.

so how do you remove the acura letters from the rear? just curious.

and $150 for just an A emblem is outragously expensive.
thanks.

$150/$160 is not just the emblem, but the entire center tail lens with emblem already on.

If you wanted to go the DIY way, you would have to take apart the center lens by pulling the two halves apart and removing the ACURA sticker. You can then add an emblem to the inside or outside depending on your taste.

Only cost me 20.00 dollars and 1hr. using RSX emblem and mounting tape. two years now and no problem!

I really like the Anytime exhaust, and I met John at Expo, he's a real nice guy. The dual tip issue is the only reason I looked elsewhere. I am converting to a 02/03 rear and the Anytime won't work. According to John, it doesn't look like he will have one "Anytime" soon. He obviously can speak more clearly on the issue, but it seems to be the way the muffler itself is designed that limits the tips. As far as comparing to the Paddock (Magnaflow), the Paddock gave me 11-12hp & 9-10lbs more torque. It is a little louder, somewhere in between the Taitec lightweight, and the Anytime.

BTW...I really can't wait to do the conversion now, after seeing that beautiful stainless steel muffler through the rear valance....looks sweet:D:D:D:D

I tried to remove the center piece yesterday to DIY the Acura emblem, and I couldn't get the lens pieces apart. I even took a heat gun to it to try to melt the glue but gave up because I didn't want the plastic lens to break. :(

How the heck did you do it? And how did you remove the acura lettering after you guys got it apart? I may just have to buy a new one from SOS with the H emblem and then just pry off the H emblem and replace with an 'A' emblem. :(

I think the acura writing on the inside is just a sticker you peel off, not sure though. I would also like to know the procedure for doing this mod. ;)

Patience, LOTS AND LOTS of patience.

I followed the directions I found on the web, and boil the tail piece in hot water, while trying not to cook my own hands, I managed to VERY SLOWLY pry apart the lens from the backing. I think it took at least ~30 min of boiling, before it came loose. While you keep the opening pried apart, you still need to keep the heat going to soften the glue, and pry apart the rest.

I was at the verge of given up, until finally I felt the damn thing moved a bit, so I started prying at it VERY carefully, trying not to break the lens, and not to scratch the plastic at the same time.

I would recommend having big piece of towel underneath while working, to keep the water from getting everywhere, and at the same time provide some holding barrier for your hands while working on it.

For what it is worth, a new one cost ~$200, I think if it's ~100, I might've bought a new one, and save myself the hassle. In addition to chopping up an original part.
