Pulling CEL Codes?

Just noticed my CEL came on last night... I was driving very conservatively with the girlfriend to dinner last night and it just came on for no apparent reason. The car is running fine though. All my O2 sensors have been replaced. I have yet to unplug the battery as I wanted to get the codes off first.

Can someone direct me to the page that has the codes and the meanings? And how exactly to pull them? Thanks!

The only lights I that blink is the TCS light and it goes off and back on...and the SRS light just turns off completely. All the other lights stay on. so I'm guessing thats a #1?

I unplugged the battery first to clear out any previous codes and the CEL went away. I guess this is a good thing?

enkrypt3d,

Well by unlugging the battery I would assume it cleared the CEL codes and they are gone but the problem won't be. Now, I'm no expert here but when I ran my CEL codes last night I shorted the "Blue" connector underneath the passenger foot well area just below the glove box. When you do this and turn the ignition to ON, your CEL light should show a sequence of flashes. Mine did 3 slow flashes and 6 fast flashes immediately afterwards indicating trouble code "36".

If you don't have a service manual for your car yet get one from the links provided in the WIKI (Chapter 19 pg.102 for codes).

I presume that you won't be able to get these codes now until the problem re-surfaces the next time you drive it. Don't disconnect the battery again until you get the codes.

Hey Cameron thanks for the reply! How's the weather out there in Dubai? :)

I followed the instructions based on this read above... ^

Which lights did you see blink? And were all the others all on or all of at the time? I had a paperclip in there as far as it would go and I'm not sure if it was making a good connection...

if you ever need to use a obd2. i got one handy you can plug in

autozone and pepboys use to lend them out.. but i heard that they passed a law or something that prevents them from doing it.

happy motoring

Cool the check engine light is gone now... may have been the ECU trying to get used to this almost brand new engine running as smooth as it has been! :D

I'll definitely let you know if it happens again. Weird though...
