go to a motorcycle shop and get the spray-oil for motorcross bikes' foam filters. works 10 times better than k&n stuff but you have to apply it very lightly as it was made tackier for foam.

Typical Foam Air Filter
Lack of surface area hinders air flow and dirt holding capacity. Open cell foam usually saturated with oil.
Dirt builds on outside and blocks the openings.
Higher vacuum pressures distort the cells drawing dirt deeper into the filter.
Airflow is reduced as cells become blocked.
Turbulent filtered air.
K&N
notice i said to get the spray for foam filters and to use it on the k&n, not to replace the k&n with foam filter. you strike again batman.
the k&n oil is really the right stuff for fabric filters BUT it is a very light oil and it gets pulled off the fabric allowing dirt to enter the airbox, meaning that you have to service your filter ALL THE TIME which we usually do not (i do mine monthly). the tackier spray-on oil for foam filters is made to saturate the foam, obviously, but if you use it lightly on the fabric filter it will not hinder the airflow yet last much longer than the k&n oil.
On that note of air filters - where are the ones for the A/C and cabin if I want to replace/clean those?
The filter for the cabin is at the base of the windshield underneath the trim that covers the wiper motors... there is an aftermarket part that has a HEPA filter that I'm thinking about getting. Especially when there are fires in SoCal... eww .....
Where does one by the aftermarket cabin HEPA filter?
