Project: Widebody - 02 Conversion

How about using the Diablo rear lamps as they are also rounded. I thinks there should be a lot of source they for the replica ones. I hope the picture shows.

Good question. I'm still trying to source a diferent light assembly. The ones I want have the "bullseye" style lite with the clear back up lamp in the center. If you have any ideas, let me know. Otherwise I'll have to come up with something...

Thanks for the help. I can't see your image though.

I'm waiting to here back from a guy that builds kit cars. I guess he has a line on OEM Ferrari 355 tail lights. Just depends how much they cost and if they will fit...

If anyone else knows were to get those lights, or similar, let me know.

Lito,
Keep me posted on your progress. Very excited to see what your looks like...

Jeff

hey gang....

Jeff, Tom and Maukash

just got back from Vacation........don't have pictures yet, they are still in the taking my panels off. :frown: but still haven't picked colors yet. so I best start looking at car magazines. I kind of like the way the Bugati Veyron 16.4 looks with black/dark plum, same scheme, tip front lip to hood, to roof to back one color and front fenders to mid door all the way to side scoops the other color? make any sense? I do have my NA-2 CF hood, will also make vents on them. need to order 2002 lights, thinking about the GT one style?

I have my design done for my rear bumper and lights, plus wing. Now it is time to send to body shop to start molding.

I am keeping a bit of the NSX trade mark tail lights look at both ends...and with two Med round redlights plus two small back up lights offest from each other.

still working on getting these scanned and getting pictures so I can down load here.

Jeff you NSX is sooooooo Bad Asss, can't wait for it to be done.

to many projects.....gotta luv it...on my CTSC NSX, installing a custom intercooler that will NOT block rear view, with two functional side scoops to my Lexan hatch that will feed the air filter and will feed a Ice box that the intercooler sits on top..this way, the outside air goes UP through the intercooler......it just fits perfect snug between fire wall/window and charger, but same height.

but the bad news, No pictures ether...yaya, I suck I know....but I seen it already in place....and WOW  ...it looks killer beautiful, only cars guys would love. ...ok ok, no more yapping, I will take some raw pictures this week and post.

till next time

Thank you for all the support. I wasn't sure how these mods' were going to be received. I've tried to use the design from the concept HSC for the opening between the lights. I'm sure of few out there are cringing. The way I look at it, the car is 15 years old and may have a second life as a super-exotic (not yet a supercar but better that an exotic).

As I go though the car, you can see remnants to the intent of the design ( example, the rear bumper rail). Which was modified to accommodate DOT etc. I guess my theory is, what would look/function best given the cars new wide body lines if there were no restrictions on design. Even though the car will barely resemble and NSX when finished, I'm still proud to tell people that it's a Acura/Honda.

I'm trying to have all the new fiberglass work done in the next 3 weeks to keep me on track for the body shop. I'm planing to bring the car to the body shop by late Feb.

Radiator is still a few weeks out. I'll post more pics as I soon as I can.

Thank you everyone,
Jeff

that is great looking.....to open trunk, you just need to ether have a alarm with remote or use inside door.

I use my remote, since I have a rear vew camera in the key hole.

I'm loving the rear end !
how does the rear diffusor fit and quality ?? I wonder if it'll fit my exhaust.

Your project and Kanes are must sees.

Nico

Nico,

The diffusor from Downforce is very good quality fit and finish. It's designed to go right over the lower cover. The sides only come up 2.5-3". So you could still use your spats.

Jeff

Got a few more pics today. Started the last of the body modifications before I start making molds. This one is more cosmetic than anything. The idea was to change the geometry of the roof to make it look longer and I think it look pretty cool also. I will be replacing the factory glass with lexan to cut the air opening. I'm also thinking of creating a "c" pilar to also shring the look of the backglass. Already working on the replacement hinges to allow the clearance for the build up roof line.

What is the pink stuff, and where do you get it?

looks like the foam insulating sheathing that you can get at lowes and home depot in 4X8 sheets...

It is polystyrene (ala Home Depot). It is about 1/10 the cost of polyurathane tooling foam. You just need to get the 250 density so you can shape it. The only trouble is it disolves under resin. I usually do a skim coat of a lightweight body filler over the foam before before I lay the fiberglass/CF. Then, if the foam is contained inside like the roof duct will be, you can drill a smll hole and poor in some acetone to disolve the foam. What your left with is a hollow, all fiberglass part. For the rear bumper/tailight I'm going to make a mold of the foam form by skimming it with body filler then spraying it with gel coat to get a perfectly smooth finish. I will cast a (negative) mold form that, remove the foam form and recast the finished (positive) from that.

Jeff.

SHIT VRooom this thing is going to be crazy and I have to say you have mad skillz. No lack of imagination either...Keep up the good work.Cant wait to see it finished.OOhhh...one more thing. It`s guys like you that really fuck up my economy:biggrin:

Just recieved some new tail lights to try. I think they will look more finished. The have a contoured profile. I'll try to get them mocked up on the car and take more pics'.

My goal is to have it in the body shop no later that the first of March. I figure they have about 6 weeks of finish/prep and paint. I want to drive it as soon as our weather gets nice. Since I bought the car on Halloween and only drove it for 2 weeks before taking it apart.. Haven't even really broke my NSX cherry yet...
