Project Track car

with the laws of phyics and newtons laws, will you actually gain more hp by weight reduction or just get there quicker?

horsepower is a function of engine speed (rpm) and torque. So, no, you won't gain actual horsepower, but your power-to-weight ratio will be better, effectively accelerating the car faster (and, in some cases, significantly faster).

and i had no idea there were so many people on here that like good music

Horsepower is horsepower - it doesn't change, unless you alter the engine itself. He's going for the Lotus Elise approach :) That car has 180HP and does 0-60 in under 4.5 seconds. Why? It's always 180HP... just doesn't have to push as much.

Hey, this in kinda off topic, but if you or anybody else in the Bay Area know who this is

and are into this type of music i'm going to be up there on the 28th (Saturday) with a pretty large group of people (some cute Chinese girls as well ). He's spinning at 1015 and the party goes til 7am:biggrin:

My boss has played with van Dyke more than once I think.

It should go without saying. I'm still a little surprised that most modern sports compact cars don't come stock with an MP3 player pre-loaded with all of Tiesto's and Oakenfold's live performances from Ibiza. I'm all into track car weight reduction... but you know replacing tunes from Van Dyke with the novelty of a cool shirt controller is a hard bullet to bite for me.

How much weight do the 17/18's with tires add?

Still, I am interested to see the Actual weight or your car(instead of a guess)

We're out here  Well, off to see Ferry Corsten tonight at Vanguard. Not too into his stuff but lucky for me we're bringing out 3 models and 2 other girls in our group of 3 guys tonight. Oh god do I love models  For all of those that I invited who couldn't make it I wish you a good night

The Volks are a little lighter than the oem wheels, so after you factor in tire weight i'd say maybe a pound or two heavier....... Having had NA1 NSX-R wheels on my car, i'd say the difference is negligable if anything. The 17/18 combo actually feels better for some reason. More surefooted and stable if that makes any sense.

I used to have HRE 545's which weighed 10 pounds more per wheel than the Volks. When I put the Volks on the difference was night and day. it felt like I had power steering.

just a little info you can tag on.

im shipping out a pair of pop-up headlights to a buyer in NY

left and right:
headlight motors, projectors and covers all weigh
a gargantuan 35lbs.

what does 35lbs feel like?
like a 5 gallon Sparklets jug of water
imagine driving with that strapped to your hood.

So what's a lite light option? and how much do they weigh? I see that Marga Hills makes a replacement and you could do the '02 thing if you like that look. What other suggestions for lights?

You could do the taitec style lights. There's a company who sells replicas on ebay for $350. You just need to fab your own brackets. They weigh almost nothing by the way. They only consist of a carbon fiber bucket, lexan covers, and a piaa foglight system, and then you fab your own aluminum brackets. This might be my next mod......

you didn't tell us how the party w/ the 3 models went last night...=)

Well, Ferry Corsten rocked the house as expected. The show was sold out and it was PACKED! And just when we thought the night would be over Ferry played a killer encore set for another 20 minutes or so.

The girls were in a very very very very touchy feely mood the whole night  which meant a lot of group hugs  and massages  We were supposed to hook up with another group of friends (who are from SF and going to go to 1015 with us next Saturday) who had a table right on the dance floor, but they pre-partied too hard at a Korean club in K-Town and ended up staying there the whole night.

All in all it was a great night. I'm expecting the music and scene to be 10X better when we go up to SF this Saturday. Paul Van Dyk is going to put on a killer set.

So all in all it was a killer night. The music was good, good friends, met some cool new people, good times........ Oh, and I forgot to mention the two lovely ladies in front of us that were, oh wait, I won't go there...... The thing I like about these types of events is that they attract a very chill, laid back crowd. Something new and different from the typical boring, played out stuff that people usually end up doing on weekends. Everyone should try it at least once

3 models? touchy feely? wth why didnt you tell me this? I would have gone! haha j/k Glad you had a good time! the taitec headlights are nice too. I have to send you the link of the head lights that have a bulge like the 02 style! forgot who makes them...

I think I'm the only one in Montana that listens to Corsten, van Dyke, Tiesto etc........I should move:confused:

The closest I get is watching the movie Groove. I know I know.
