i am looking into buying a used nsx hopefully sometime soon, but for reference i would like to here from you guys esp. those who have purchased used nsx's of any year (but im looking into a 91-93) on ANY problems major and minor that you have encountered since you've owned the car. and was a easy fix? was it expensive?

thanx

Have you tried looking in the FAQ, under the Troubleshooting heading?

Here are the most common problems:
- power windows
- transmission snap ring (for cars in the range)
- climate control
- sound system

Get familiar with the FAQ.

On my '92 auto: Power window repair $200, Leaky valve cover gasket and oil pan gaskets $700, 90k service $1200, blown center speaker (haven't fixed yet). All other money spent was on elective mods- wheels, tires, headers, exhaust. Don't get me wrong, I love my NSX, but I wouldn't want it as my daily driver.
If I lived in a warm climate, I'd seriously consider leasing an NSX if
it was to be my daily driver, that way, no mainatanence worries
and way more fun than any other $800/month car.

Rough overview of my expense the last 30K miles

Here's what I've done, from 69K miles to 104K on my 94'; prices are approximate as I no longer remember and could be off slightly.

- 60K maintenance ($700)
- 90K maintenance (incl. timing belt, valve adjustments) ($1100)
- 3 alignments (2 at $90, 1 at $200)
- rebuilt and replaced starter ($300)
- replaced worn shocks with bilsteins (I don't remember)
- rear brake pads ($200)
- antenna mast ($60)
- trunk gas struts (~$100)
- various small parts, shift knob, emergency brake handle button, trim pegs, etc. (~ $150)
- replaced cosmetically worn OE radio with another ($250)
- numerous oil changes (every 4000 to 5000 mi)
- 1 set of tires, running on Dunlop SP9000

Some of my expense were clearly discretionary...

Another thing that's very important when you're talking about costs is depreciation. From what I've seen, the NSX doesn't really depreciate much as a function of time. It depreciates mostly with mileage.

I estimate that my NSX so far has depreciated at a rate of about $0.20 to $0.30 per mile. Depreciation is definitely a tangible cost that you should factor in if you choose to drive you car daily.

nothing wrong with mine. i put over 1000 miles already in less than a month.

the trick is prevent something from goin wrong before everything goes to hell..

maintenance and tune up if the prior owner does not have copy of maintenance.
