My 5-speed used to be pretty stiff.... Difficult to shift into 1st gear or reverse from reverse, particularly when cold.
Awhile back I had some clutch troubles...
during this time I tried to "force" the car into gear, without success... only way was to shift it with the motor off. Turns out the fluid was low, as discussed in another thread... that part is remedied.
Anyway, now the shifting is not "stiff" -- goes into 1 and R without any troubles... however it seems like there is some slop in the shifter... doesn't move around or anything, but it feels like its "loose".
Is it possible I damaged something (shifter cable linkage) while I was trying to get the car in gear ??

Note: While driving, there is no unususal slop, or grinding, or other behavior.
