Wow, this is a serious forum. First board that forced me to exercise the pythagorean theorem to get in. lol

I'm a potential buyer of an NSX. Much like all the other threads, I see them getting cheaper & think that it may be a good DD. I have an 80s 300zx as my DD now and I'm fairly good at performing most maintenance & mods myself. Despite that, I would likely not mod the NSX for a long while until I got a backup car.

I was wondering mainly how difficult it is to perform general maintenance yourself. I was looking through a few threads in the DIY and saw members replacing thermostats, changing oil & other small maintenance themselves. Is this normal? Im just curious since I've seen some posts stating how expensive the maintenance is, which is understandable for larger issues but normal things shouldnt be that bad correct?

Im somewhat mechanically inclined, Ive done some fab work, custom turbo install & replaced almost everything on my Z. I haven't done any internals yet though. Its fine for the car to be down 1-2 weeks at a time, im used to unexcpected stuff happening to the Z.

Heres what Ive been looking at. Trying to not exceed $30k really & staying somewhat local to the central texas area.

Welcome to the board. General rule of thumb, if the deal is too good to be true, then it aint true. Next think you know, you'll be wiring money over to Nigeria.

With that said, both your 91's are on this board. A VIN search will get you the for sale threads. There is a lot more detail here than on autotrader. The wiki section will run you over the process of purchasing an NSX and what to look for. Lots of resources, great friendly people to help you out. Happy hunting!

Welcome!

Based on what you indcate you've done with the Z, you'll be just fine doing NSX maintenance. Just be sure to get the Service Manual for whichever one you buy, with that in hand plus all of the great resources and folks here on Prime, I think you'll realy enjoy working on one.

Oh yeah, there's the joy of driving one too...
