3179 - Check for your local Bell or Simpson dealer or whomever dealer. Visit them and see what model and SIZE you need. NEW, the helmet should feel kind of tight - but not painfully so. It should not be comfortable initially. Leave it on for a while so you know. The foam and other material will adjust to your head after wearing it a few times so you don't want it to be loose at first.
DO NOT GET AN OPEN FACE MODEL!!!!!!!
You want to have a FULL FACE helmet because as you drive faster you should wear a neck collar. An open face helmet will not work properly with a neck collar. This is to protect your neck in case of a violent accident so you don't sever your spinal cord as has happened with NASCAR drivers in recent years. All the models pictured above are FULL FACE HELMETS, you will note.
Once you know your size, you can feel free to purchase your helmet on the internet. Or at least check the price for the model that you like for price comparison.
I had an entry level Simpson for a number of years as I was learning Driver's Education but when I wanted to buy a more expensive helmet, I purchased it on the internet after I knew the brand, model and size that I wanted.
