Portland/Vancouver NSXers?

I spoke to the Alpha club pres, and he says Sunday is fine for non-Alpha owners. He requested that I bring a check for the racing fees and a helmet. There's a driver's meeting at 9:00am, so it's best to show up around 8:30.

If you want to go, you might want to call him to confirm. His name is Shar, and his number is 503-350-1705.

Multisync,

Thanks for contact info on the alpha club.

I am thinking about picking up a spare set of rims as well. I will go about as wide a tire as possible as it looks like rubber on the road is better than top speed for PIR.

I put in some mobile1 flushed the brakes, abs, clutch, radiator, new dali coolant bottle. There is some Valvoline brand brake fluid dot3/4 with dot5 specs, has a 500deg? dry and 384deg? wet boiling point only $5 bottle. The only thing that will truly suck is my third gear synchro is hosed. The most critical gear. I will have to double clutch it.

As far as the spin outs at turn 3, bmw z8? (2seat coup) hit the inside wall with rear fender, a crazed maniac in a big ass wing Mitubishi (or somthing, i.e. who cares), and a MR2. Those are the ones I saw anyway. The later two did not apear to hit the wall though but at least did 180's and all went toward the inside. All I know is I will take turn 3 slow untill I get comfortable with it. It would apear that when their back end gets out they let up on the gas tranfering the weight to the front giving even more oversteer and whipping the back end around toward the inside wall.

The dood in the m3 superlight was fast. We were lapped(M3) by a C5. The C5 looked like it was handling pretty good.

Todd - Sorry to hear about your car. I guess on the bright side if there ever is one those rock chips will be gone. Enjoy your time off.

Multsyn23 - Since Edo is headed to Tokyo is shotgun open on Sunday?

Scott - A Z8 or Z3 hit the wall? If it's a Z8 then it was one of the few in the area at $125k+. Classic mistake - panic and let up. I'm an old moto-xer and learned when shit starts to happen gas it!!! Hope to see you Sunday if it's not raining.

Desertfox,
91 Red/Ivory with a brand spanking new RM exhaust and one hell of a wax job! What do you have?

hejo,
I,ll be there Sunday. The tech inspection is at 8am and a mandatory driver meeting at 9am. You should take your NSX out. Even though it is an automatic not a big deal. It is still fun! I am going in the novice group and will probably be tied up in traffic anyway. Is yours the black one with stock wheels or did you have the chrome wheels?

Multisynch, get there at 8am for the tech inspection. They have to check your ride out to make sure your blower won't come flying off and land on my intake

Are you thinking about going back to stock gears with the super charger. I imagine with that power you might need the longer gears.

------------------

Hejo--my Dad will be joining me on Sunday and will be riding shotgun. I don't know if he'll stay for the whole session, though. That's up to him.

Scott--The gears STILL feel too long. The performance out of the supercharger is underwhelming. I ran a 14.1 in the 1/4 mile at PIR with everything in my signature. I had severe wheel hop, but my guess is a perfect driver could only get a 13.6 out of the car. A stock Z28 runs 13.8. That's pitiful.

I'm going to get a boost guage and work out the problems with Comptech.

By the way, if anyone here is planning on going, you must have a SNELL approved helmet to pass tech. The cheapest they sell for is $175 (at the Beaverton bike shop off 217).

That is pitiful considering the stock 3.2L 290hp does 13.3s (road and track).

Do you have any idea what kind of horsepower you have at 4300, 5500 and 7700 rpm?

I would think you should be in the low 12's.

Sound like there is no boost.

Yes, it is pitiful. I don't know of any chassis dyno's here in Portland, so I can't know what HP I'm making. I need to put a boost guage on it to determine just how much boost it's making. I have a feeling the problem is with fuel delivery, and may end up changing the fuel pump and injectors.

Mine was the one with the stock wheels. The low ride all tricked out was Todd's. After seeing his I really want to lower my car but the speed bumps in LO make it a pain. Actually I had the stock wheels polished with the insides painted dark grey to try and give them an offset look. They wre the standard brushed ones before like every other 95.

If the weather looks like it might be ok on Sunday I'll come out with my car. Otherwise I probably watch.

Scott,
I had a '95 Red/Black NSX-T a year or so ago.
Took it out to PIR once...it was a blast! Had to sell it, though. Right now I do not have a car (still shopping.)

Do any of you portland NSX'ers own a 91-93 Black NSX w/ the license plate NIKEMAN. My gf went to portland last weekend and took pictures of your car at a acura dealership there.

That car belongs to Phil Knight, Founder and President of Nike Corp. It's a little beat up and it appears he still uses it as a daily driver....I see it often on the Nike campus and around town.

I've finally been in town long enough to pick up the pictures I took at PIR. You can view/download them by going to:
