I like them both and as I posted above can't really compare the two.
Both get/got a ton of attention!!
To be fully truthful I will always miss that NSX,but if it were the other way around I would probably say the same about the Porsche.

What's going to be the application of the car? What's most important to you?

- Exclusivity and attention, go NSX. Reliability, go NSX. Performance, go TT. Practicality (kids/weather), go 4WD TT. Driving experience, 997S/NSX. Looks, 3 way tie.

Sounds like resell was important to you. Older 996TTs have devalued significantly (for example 01-02) while NSXs of the same years have held up pretty well, I would expect that trend to continue with an 03-04 NSX or TT. For resell I would go NSX. If you really don't want to loose much on resell you should consider a 993 or older 91-99 NSX.

FYI, I would not hold my breath for 2010 NSX.

If I have the money, i would own a 997 and a nsx. How do you compare both cars? to compare them apple to apple, its more like NSX-T vs base 997 cab. how are the power comparison? I know the base 997 is 30hp less, but is it that much slower than the S version?

I ve heard the NSX drives the same as a boxster S in terms of speed , handling and steering, is that true?

you are from 6speed lol =P

I'll update my comment way above to say that Ive now driven (for about an hour) a 996 GT3. Its SWBATTEs new car.

It ROCKED MY SCHIZOCKS.

NSX FORSALE!

J/K, but seriously, what an awesome maching that 996 GT3 is. By far the best of the 996 line up IMO. Its crazy hot. Porn star hot. Our NSXs are supermodel hot; 996 GT3s are PORN STARS.

Which sounds more fun to you?

If you have not considered one of those, you really should; at least give it a drive. My NSX is a track rat so I didnt find the GT3 more raw than my car, but be prepared for one bad ass ride. This GT3 was so responsive. When I turned the wheel, the outside wheels squatted and it was like the car was leaning against a wall. When I hit the gas, that NA engine roared like a banshee. Speed wise I bet it is not much different than my CTSCd NSX, but this car was stock as good, possibly better, than my FrankeNSX, or so Sean calls it. I LOVED its clutch. My NSX clutch felt wimpy after. I ordered an RPS immediately after.

On the other hand, when Sean was driving my car, the view of it from that GT3 was crazy. Man, NSXs are hot looking cars. Too bad you have to do so much to them to bring them up to modern performance standards.

I dont like the body style of the 996, so most likely I wont get a 996/gt3. The only reason why I may consider a 996 TT is the power. I rode one the other day TT-S, it was super fast!

Loved the way 997 cab looks. I found one for $63,000 base 997 cab, is this a better deal than the NSX-T 02+?

I was looking through the posts here and a member posted a 2002+ NSX with 35k miles for $53k, this is an awesome deal! But its has been in an accident and parts of the rear panel was fixed and repainted.

lastly, I found a limited edition ( loved the GT3 RS orange exterior color) Boxster S for $55,000. Hows the boxster compare with the NSX? I drove a cayman S and a base boxster before, they are fantastic track cars. Cayman S handles like its on rail. The power isnt bad either!

So many choices, but only 1 decision to make

997 base cab
nsx-T 02+
boxster S limited

I don't know what to tell you... I have driven all these extensively. There is NO WAY I would trade my NSX for either of those two excellent cars. I like them a lot, I love my NSX. An 02+ NSX is a very rare thing. That to me alone is worth something.

Yes, and if Stacy sells that what will he buy next?

According to his pattern...

If attention is your thing, get a Gallardo. Seriously, the 997S is a terrific car, I do not own one but have owned more than 10 carrera coupes over the years, the last being a 993 C4S. I also owned an '01 NSX-T which I just loved. IMO the NSX exceeds the Porsche in all aspect except HP. I also appreciated that I only saw maybe one or two NSXs in a week, compared two or three carreras a block where I live. Also the P-cars take a pretty serious depreciation hit.

Im going to hold off on the lambo because I m not an experienced driver. I haven't driven a stick shift for almost 2 years.

The most important thing right now is to find a nsx near me and ride in one. The best economical solution right now is to get something in the 50-60k range for 2 years then get an exotic maybe a lambo when it drops below 100k.

I m not a fan of just bolt ons as they cost alot of money and I can only squeeze out 10-20 HPs. I might be interested in a supercharge or TURBo if available, how much do they cost? how much for labor? How can I find a tuner locally to install it?

The resale value is extremely bad for highly moded cars. the new NSX is suppose to be out in 2010, so I must get rid of the NSX before the new one comes out. In addition, Im concerned about the price as the 02+ NSX can cost between $60,000-65000 with 10k miles. in 2 years it ll drop in price tremendously.

Most likely I will only do suspension and rims and exhaust.

As far as I am concerned, the new NSX is not an NSX at all (Name Only) it will not impact real NSX value. To me, it will drive value up since the new car is not superior or in the same class as the current car which means what we have is all there will be......Steve

Don't mean this with any disrespect but I think you are completely wrong about this. New NSX as Steve said is a 4-seat front-engine car that looks nothing like this all-aluminum body. Different car. And it will still be 150K or so. If anything, old NSX prices will rise. I am seeing that trend. There are NO MORE. Aston Martin made over 3000 Vantages last year and that is a RARE car. There were 30,000 911's made. There were 200 NSX's made in 2005. This car has all the qualities needed to appreciate in value. That may take some time, but it will come quicker than you think. At the very least, its certainly not going to "drop tremendously" like you say. There are already people asking a lot of money for 2005 NSX's, and some are selling at those high prices.

After looking for years, this is one of the reasons I jumped now. If the new "NSX" looks anything like what I'm seeing in all the spy shots, it will be an NSX in name only. While it will outperform the old ones in every way, it won't even begin to bring the same magic to the table. Seeing all the modded NSX's out there, the ones that have been wrecked and the ones that have high mileage, I don't see any way that the price won't stabilize or increase on the original cars in excellent condition.

I remember the very first time I saw the 91 NSX and decided I'd own one some day. Looking at the new one, have no such desire and couldn't afford it any way.

My good bud had a succession of TT's 98-02-03 all were modded by techart.I drove them all and if I could get past the asthetic of the car I would love one.The power was intoxicating, uge brakes, but I don't find the turbo as nice to look at and the ergonomics /seats/dash,the whole fung shui just did'nt do it for me.They are reliable and the paint/build quality is high.

I picked my 05 NSX over these as well. Looked a LONG time for a nice 993TT, then a 997S and even a 996TT. In the end I wanted something a bit more exclusive. They are GREAT cars and I think the 993 feels about as "connected" as my NSXs have. The 997 is a giant leap forward.

You can't go wrong with any of these, IMHO.

Agree, 993TT is still one of my favorites, it is the last generation of the air-cool technology in Porsche.

One thing for sure, all the Porsche's stock brake systems are really good, as well.

Purchasing a car is a personal matter...and I own a modded 91 NSX...and what I believe to be true is the issue of numbers. I see Corvettes, Mustangs and P-cars everywhere in Calgary - and I am talking minutes here...not hours! The NSX is the closest thing that you will own that will provide you with that exotic car feel! If you ahve the money...then skip it all and buy a Lamborghini (if you want the pure exotic sports car look) or buy an Aston Martin Vanquish (if you want the luxury sport look). Depreciation equates to numbers...and the rarer the car - in numbers and design (NSX is hand assembled) the higher the demand!

Dam:cool: Go Buckeyes - maybe we can win the national final this year...lol

I have a 996 GT3, great anger management therapy car.
Just got an automatic 1991 NSX (to drive around town) and look cool!

Both cars are great IMO. GT3 is a great driver's car but will back end bite if not throtled with respect (only ABS, no traction nanny, etc... as on the 997). I recently got a louder exhaust and the car's sound is intoxicating! If I had to get anothe Porsche it would be a 993 Turbo, 996 Turbo or 997 GT3.

As for the NSX, have yet to drive a manual, but my impressions are that the NSX sits ver differently, is less roomy, but has a better quality interior than my 996. I absolutely love the view ahead over the front fenders. In m view the NSX is closer in spirit to the older pre-993 Porsches than the 993, 996 or 997.

Best thing about the NSX is that however bad the maintenance or repair bill is, it will be a fraction of that from Porsche...

I own a ' 05 996TT (tuned by Sharkwerks - GT550 stage 2, full TechArt Kit) and it's scary fast. To my surprise, it's pretty dam reliable and bullet-proof. You can get them for less than half the original MSRP so it's definitely a good bang-4UR-buck.

My opinion: It's a german muscle car that's rather expensive to modify compared to the NSX. But the grin you get with both turbos putting out 550lb/torque with AWD is nothing you can get from the NSX. But it's a pig on the track.

On the other hand, the NSX has a much better "driver feel" (more nimble handling) and connection. Way cheap to modify and gets more attention for sure.

Drive both, buy both (makes a great stable mate).

I agree. I have been eyeballing the 996TT too and have decided to get one in the future. I was totally amazed at how much they have depreciated. Both cars are great and I would get them both.
