Hi 710
I read that you are still having as much fun with the NSX as before.
I was wondering what you have done with your brakes thusfar.
I put on the Stoptech Aero-rotors myself, but in Daili's Axxis brakepads and put on bigger air deflectors and had tons of fun with zero problems at Spa with it. I am going to put on SS-lines this year to see if it makes much difference.
Hi MvM, hoe gaat het daar boven?
I had to wait till I found bigger wheels before I can install the bigger brakes.
I finally decided on what bigger wheels I am going to buy. Compomotive
http://www.comp.co.uk
6 spoke, 17” front, 6 spoke 18” rear
But they are too wide, I will get the wheels narrowed in Germany. I want 6.5 or 7 wide at the front, 8 or 8.5 wide at the back
They are the closest I can find to the Technomagnisios (sp?). They come in lots and lots of offsets so that’s good. Strong too. Good for the roads here.
Compomotive’s website sucks, if you visit there, let me know if you need help navigating, I finally figured it out.
Then my clutch T/O bearing went or something (62,500km on the clutch)(39,000 miles) on the stock clutch. Not bad I guess.
So I have delayed getting my wheels, while I try to find the time to change the clutch. And I have no money for the wheels now.
That brings me to your question:
I thought I would give the HiSpecs a try on the NSX.
http://www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk
I used their Monster (not Mega Monster) 6 pot calipers
http://www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk/monster_6.htm
and discs on my Escort Cosworth and they work perfectly for 3 years now. The discs are a good price, probably because they are inferior quality, but I have not had any problems with them in the hills in France or on the Nurburgring. Those are the same hills and circuit that cook my stock NSX brakes all the time. 3 sets of NSX discs in 1 year! Shite.
The calipers are also a good price but you can wait for a zillion years before they actually deliver them.
So I now have a pair of HiSpec Mega Monster 6 pot callipers with adapter kit
http://www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk/mega_monster.htm
and I got their discs, bells and adapters too. These will need 17” wheels on the front.
The Mega Monsters use standard AP brake pad size CP3894D51 (152 x 80 x 18mm)
I have disc size 330mm for the front..
I also got 358mm discs for the front but I think they will might be too big. I will see when I have the wheels.
I got bigger rear discs too, 328mm, but will use the stock NSX caliper.
The discs are grooved (curved groove). I considered getting the drilled discs, but they were not in stock. Wheels will be black or gunmetal, so I got black calipers and plain aluminium coloured bells.
Glad to hear that the Spa circuit no longer cooks your brakes now with your setup! The bigger brakes feel much better, don’t they? So now you can brake a little better before Eau Rouge without sh*tting your pants as much, hehe  (hey, I do)(brake, I mean)...(and sh*t too).
Nice on the NSX, I’ll bet. Especially in the pissing rain at Spa or the Ring! Much better feel, eh? The brakes, I mean, not the sh*t. That feels the same as usual.
When I put the HiSpec on the Cossy, what a huge difference! Well the stock brakes were very bad on that car, much worse that the stock NSX’s. No comparison, the NSXes stock are much better than stock Cossy’s. (just being clear to avoid that BBQ feeling after being flamed! )
What size wheels and discs do you have now on the front of your NSX?
Next time at Spa you should get a ride in Gerard’s car on the circuit. With the racing tyres and big brakes. Talk about throwing the anchor out!
Are you coming on the NSX ride in the Ardennes in April?
Groetjes
Peter
