Playing aroud with camera - Night Shots

Hmmmm... So do I zoom out, use the focus-assist, then zoom-in?? Is that how it works? Wouldn't you loose the focus when you zoom in?

PS: I bought the 17-85 mm lens, taking shots again this weekend and comparison too with the stock lens. Now I want a speedlite.. =)

Very nice, congrats on the lens! So how do you like it? I think it's a pretty good match to your XTi. The quality is going to be better, especially at the edges I think.

About the zoom, that was regarding normal shots where you want to add more blur to the background by zooming in on your subject. When you want to just fucus, don't move the zoom position (like you mention) once the camera has picked a focus point.

Unfortunately, the lens is not here yet. Hopefully tomorrow or friday and will definitely post new pics using tips I acquired from this thread..
