Pink insulation? Normal?

This reminds me of a testdrive with a car that has been stored for some months. When the owner set the fan blower to ON the car had a very strong urine smell, it was disgusting. :(

I agree right now I am having issues with small black ants.

I got in my NSX the other day and turned on the Air and turned the fan speed to medium and like 4000 ants and egg/ larva flew out of the center vents and side vents I slammed on brakes as I swatted them off me jumped out fo the car people thought I was insane like that movie " Black sheep " with the BEE's trick.
its been cold here in Florida so they prob just climbed in to stay warm. but god man it was crazy

I killed a ton of them and since they were the non biting black ants I just dealt with it till I could go home and vaccum them all out.

when you store your car make sure the A/C is set ot recur and not fresh

I've never thought that a big closed plastic storage bag (looks like a condom :)) could be a good thing but I now think it would not be a bad investment in those szenarios.

My most extensive rodent episode was one that decided to live in an NSX engine. 31 wires of the engine wiring harness chewed through.

mmm...Larry, do you know why my NSX won't start?? :)

A "White/Yellow wire", now is that a White wire w/Yellow stripe, or a Yellow wire w/White stripe? Fun times..........

Moth Balls, can't live with um, can't live without um:D:D:D

Everybody is going to go mad buying moth balls now lol

^^^Straight to Amazon.com after reading this thread! LOL.

Can we get a mothball review thread.......anyone?

This car sat for a long time at the owners house and at a dealership. I would have someone get under the car and inspect the wiring too. My tech out here said thats one of things rodents like to chew up and will cost some bank. Mine only sat for a few months in a detached garage and there was slight evidence of rodent life.

That being said though thats some crazy ish you got going on there.

You mean a mouse is going into the walls and attic, picking up owens Corning R14, carrying it across the garage, carrying it into the NSX, to build a warm comfy bedroom inside the 1/4 panel?

Yes. I used to live in the country. Mice and rats are very resourceful and a PITA.

What do you do with the mothballs? Just lay them under the car in various spots? That's it?

My previous daily driver (02 TL Type-S) suddenly had a check engine light and a few others come on one day on my way home from work. The dealership said there were 2 rats sitting there looking back at them when they opened the hood. They had chewed through some wires to the engine. I got some rataway and I can't really say it helped but I haven't had any problems since.

I agree with Shawn, there should be nothing there and likely a rodent had made a nest there in the past. I've seen a similar finding before on a Dodge Ram truck where the insulation under the hood was chewed away and dragged into the intake. When I started the truck, it performed horribly and, of course, the culprit were a bunch of mice sucked into the intake.

Like others, I know of folks who have had their wiring chewed through. Apparently some of the late model Chevy's are bad because the insulation on the spark plug wires is tasty for the rodents and they love chewing on them.

One of my colleagues at work has had quite a bit of experience with storage of vehicles (cars, boats, motorcycles) and he offered a bit of advice that I find useful. He doesn't use mothballs because the smell is noxious. Rather, he uses dryer sheets. He ties them to hoses & cables. Allegedly, the smell keeps them away (I guess they think someone is nearby). He's done this for years and I myself have used it for some time. Personally, I agree with him, they smell so much better.

Just remember to remove the sheets before taking the car for a drive in the Spring.
