Piloti Driving shoes...

I, too, have a pair. I have to agree with Chris, that the sole is a bit thick for my preferences, but they are comfortable enough that I consider it a reasonable trade-off.

$90.00 for those ? For what its worth, my first pair of racing shoes were Nike Hi-Top wrestling shoes b/c they had one of the thinest souls(SP) I could find and we were not required to have Nomex footwear. Stylish... no, but practical for heal & toe. Looking @ the site you posted, those look to thick IMO.

I use the Sparco Racing shoes becuase the heel is very strong but thin. I thought they felt lighter and less clunky than the piloti's. It is much easier to heel and toe with them as opposed to a regular shoe. If price is the issue, wrestling shoes work well also. On our cars there is ample room so it's not a big issue, but in an open wheel car they are a must.

I've tried the OMP Best model and the Momo high tops and are both very good, comfortable shoes with good pedal feel, but my favorite driving shoes are the ubiquitous Sperry Topsiders which also are very durable and have pretty good pedal feel too. Plus you can hop out of the car and go sailing without changing footwear!

As a counter to the "against" arguments: I have a pair and enjoy them for track days. They are a bit wider than typical "competition" driving shoes, but that makes heel-toe easier if you don't have aftermarket pedals. The sole is thicker and you don't get quite the feel of the pedals you will with thin soled shoes, but I quickly got used to it. Finally, they are as comfortable as tennis shoes to wear around all day for D.E. events which the thin soled shoes are definitely not! So for me they have been a good compromise.

Sole too thick.
I second the wrestling shoes as an alternative.
