Ok, maybe not a disaster but it still sucked. Bought the car from a Virginia (DC area) dealer. Drove from Atlanta in my R8 to trade in on the NSX. Picked up the NSX yesterday and drove back to Atlanta this morning.
When the NSX specialist delivered the car, he sat in the passenger seat while I sat in the driver seat. I asked him where the cigarette lighter plug was located and he told me the car didn't have one. I asked if he was sure there wasn't one in the passenger footwell as I've had several cars in the past that placed the outlet there. He confidently tells me that Acura chose not to install cigarette lighters because no one smokes in the cars and they installed USB outlets instead. So when I removed the V1 radar from my R8, I stuck it in my luggage since I couldn't power it.
I'd only owned the car for 12 hours when I start my drive back to Atlanta. And I get pulled over for "reckless driving". I was going 14 miles over the limit. I questioned whether 14 miles constituted reckless as I always thought reckless was 15 miles over. I thought to myself...if only my radar worked.
I stopped in Charlotte to meet a friend for work and I let him drive the NSX. I sit in the passenger seat and I can see the cigarette lighter plug plain as day. I'm perplexed how the NSX specialist could not see it when I specifically asked him if it was located on the passenger side footwell. In fairness, I probably wouldn't have used the radar at that point as I was still in VA where they're illegal. And if I were just paying attention to Waze, I would have seen the warning of the speed trap. I asked the officer if he could give me a break since I just got the car...he said no. A quick Google search informed me that this specific county makes a lot of money from these speed traps. According to one of many law firms that handle tickets in this area, "reckless driving" is the most common offense. So I have to pick a lawyer and let them do their thing.
Shifting gears, a few questions about the car:
1. When I walk to the door, the handle pops up like it should. However, I sometimes have to pull on it 2-3 times for the door to open. As an example, the handle would pop up but when I pull it the first time, the door is still locked. When I release it and pull it again, the door unlocks and opens. Is this normal?
2. This one has me totally perplexed. I paired my Galaxy S8 but whenever I make or receive a call, the call starts in "Private Mode" which means the car recognizes the call through Bluetooth but the call itself is router to the handset speaker. I have to wait for the call to connect, then press "Transfer" to route the call to the car's Bluetooth speaker system. I've tried unpairing and re-pairing. Unpairing, rebooting, and re-pairing. Same thing. I went through the entire Android menu and cannot find any settings related to "Private Mode" for calls. Anyone else had this experience?
