Paint your calipers?

Has anyone used this kit with succes, or any other sugggestions...really don't want to disassemble the calipers and have them powdercoated.

G2 is very good stuff and have used it on 3 cars. While you don't have to remove the calipers it does turn out better if you remove the pads when painting.

I used the G2 a couple of years ago. Easy to apply and has held up great. It does require multiple coats, though.

I have generally found that anything that you get from SOS is top quality. But I just did mine with a DupliColor brush-on kit. Looks great. The kit is pretty much like the G2 kit but less expensive and available at your local auto parts store.

The Duplicolor paint might not be quite as tough as the G2 stuff but it only took one coat.

The DupliColor brush on paint I used on an Accord a few years back held up nicely for the two years I owned the car.

Much more than the actual paint you use is how well you prep the surface before you paint. Needless to say, the better you prep the surface, the better the results and the longer the paint will last. Scrub with a good quality solvent and multiple wire brushes. I didn't have to take my calipers off, but make sure to mask off areas, like your pads, very well. I used a combination of painters tape, cut index cards and plastic grocery shopping bags and it worked very well.

I highly recommend it. Did my a month ago with the G2 system.

Notes:
1. You don't need the sprayer (I didn't use it).
2. Obviously cleaning them as best as possible is important.
3. Plan on 6hr from start to finish.
4. My pics are from 3 coats.
5. Another prime member told me he used black grill paint to manually paint the NSX embossment. I love it.
5. Lastly, remember when you are doing it that as long as you are largely clean with the your painting it will look great. You can see the shots with the wheels off are not 100% perfect. With the wheel on, it looks like you are a pro. ....That said, I'm a bit anal and did put some time into it.

There are companies out there that sell colored plastic caliper covers. Not only does this option allow you to choose any color, but actually makes the calipers look a little bigger...closer to a Brembo size. You also don't affect the stock color and can remove the covers at anytime.
