Overhaulin'

Anyone watch this show? It's amazing!!!! They "prank" people and tell them their car has been impounded, stolen, confiscated, totalled, etc. In about 6 days, they call the person, telling them they found the car, or whatever the circumstance might be. When the owner shows up, the car is absolutely restored, modded, just amazing!

The look on the peoples' faces is priceless !! It's on TLC, I believe a couple times a day. Gotta check it out .. :biggrin:

I love that show too. They did an episode where Cheryl Crow snagged Lance Armstrong's GTO and they Overhauled it. Nice car, but he seemed like a putz.

The Pres of our company came to our ops and told the pilots that the airline needed to be overhauled. So someone asked if Chip Foose was going to come in and give us a stylin paint job, chrome the wheels and put dice in the cockpits.... didn't go over well, no one has a sense of humor anymore. Jeez, you loose a couple of billion dollars, that's a big joke in and of itself.

On a side note, I was flying into La Guardia and the controller kept giving us turns, left and then back right for "spacing"... after the 4th or 5th one I told him, "you know we are not a sailboat, right?" No sense of humour... he put us in a holding pattern for 20 min .... "for spacing".

I've seen a lot of them and suprisingly they're usually tastefully done and not 'pimped out'. I saw them do a 64 Vette once and was scared they were going to ruin it but it was pretty nice and looked stock.

I don't think they would like it to much. Not that there is anything wrong with your car but I've only seen them do one import. It was a Civic and Chip didn't act to excited about it.

Now now , play nice :tongue: Actually, I did do a search, two even, one with "overhaulin " and the other with "overhaulin' " No find .... so there ! :wink: :tongue:

I too wondered about what they'd do with the NSX, but honestly I think unless it was old, damaged, beat up, etc, not much needs to be done. But that Chip guy is a genius. Did you see the one where he had a child from Make-A-Wish on there and he drew the little boy his favorite car UPSIDE DOWN. True artist... reminded me of a fellow Prime member on here who draws cars a lot , Mr. Stoner.

edit: p.s. my tubis have gotten so much louder the past couple days. It's so exciting!!! :biggrin:

I love the show and Chip is definaly a genious...my only "gripe" about it, is all the beautiful old muscle cars they rebuild and they always put some ugly 19 or 20" chrome wheels on them! I mean come on!!! These are classic americal muscle cars not old cadi's and stuff that people put big 20" chrome spinners on!! I know they always use Fooses wheels...but he has some wheels he makes that arent chrome that look pretty hot! Id just like to see a little less chrome! (chrome doesnt get you home)

ps...I cant talk...My nsx has chrome wheels on it (I didnt do it! I swear...my car came with these ugly ass things on it!)

Also..I think my NSX would be a perfect candidate for overhaulin..this nsx needs a lot of love...and could really use some help on the interior and a good paint job to get rid of all the rock chips all over it!

Hey you never know...maybe he would get a lot more excited to do a SuperCar than a Civic.....Id be a lot more excited!

I love this show, Chip Foose is an amazing artist when it come to cars. I would rather have one of the Foose classic type cars Camaro, Mustang etc, once he is done with them they will be priceless and remain in classic glory. However a civic in 5 to 10 years is still well just a tricked out civic, guessing it won't ever be a classic. Anyway its not like pimp my ride as they fix the engine bay, motor etc, it doesn't seem like pimp my ride does a lot of engine work. Only one show on pimp my ride where I have seen where they swapped the motor out, VW bug I think.
