Only if I had another 300 hp - chasing a ZR1

bah.. i know how u feel.... last month i was chasing gt3's until we hit the LONG straights... nothin i could do there..

nice video.. btw.. what camera/mount setup were u using... picture quality came out quite nice.

Right around the 2:03 mark...LOL! Also, is it me, or was he braking WAY early for those corners. I'm guessing that you have had more seat time than the guy inthe ZR1, or are just more comfortable with your car.

And as noted, your camera setup works quite well. Post what ya brung.

Even a regular Z06 will get the point-by from me on the straights. Then the thought of getting some forced induction enters my mind:biggrin:

We still need to have that talk Larry ......... even with FI, the Z06 will pull away on the straights.

Damn those ZO6s! Damn my slow NSX! Life's not fair:frown:

Going to the Chevy dealerships after work today...

Yes, I think Bob was taking it kind of easy as he was taking a passenger for a ride. The ZR1 was coasting where I was at 9/10ths. Bob and his wife have dedicated 997 GT3 & 997T track cars (both yellow) that they both drive like they stole them. Both are very good drivers, but this was Bob's first day in his new ZR1 and was giving rides. Otherwise, I think I would have easily lost site of him after the first turn.

Awesome video quality. Nice track but I would cut these trees and put sand instead just in case I go out in a fast turn

how fast are you going by the end of the straight? I'm at about 122 and braking at the 200 mark. Are you on street tires?

The same.... 121-123 (depending on whether it was before or after lunch :) ) at the end of the straight. I am running Nitto NT01s.

Aiptek HD with Sunpak wide angle adapter ~ $200.

Panavise suction cup mount on rear window.

Radio Shack external lapel mic in the trunk ~ $20.

Great video. It was funny to see how much faster he was on the straight the 2nd time around. Looks like you hurt his pride jumping up on his bumper after the first time he hit the straight.
That was some nice driving by both imo.

yea, but I am sure that Bob was just cruising as he can smoke me in his GT3 or his Turbo. That ZR1 looks effortless going around the track. It really is a Supercar.

Really do you think so? it seems power to weight would be quite close with a turbo nsx putting down around 400whp(mabye more) if it weighed in around 2,900(with minor weight reduction). The new c6 ZO6 corvettes seam to dyno around 440whp and weigh slightly over 3,100 lbs. I think it would be quite close, but obviously its got a lot more torque. Mabye im crazy but one things for sure it still wouldn't be fast enough for a ZR-1. Great driving and video, keep them coming .

It is couple NSX's out there that can take that ZR-1 on the
strait or the turns, correct me if I am wrong
Billy (Stuntman).
He,he,he :tongue::smile::tongue:
I sure as hell hope so...

(with the 500whp FX500 street car, with full interior, sound system with amp and subwoofer, and a hot chick -not even talking about the racecar).

What is the max record length using the same settings you're using in the video? That is some REALLY nice video

Battery is the limiting factor - 1 hr straight. A 8gb SD card will hold 2hrs of 720p @ 60fps or 1080p @ 30fps.

However, you can use a 12v to mini usb cord and a 16gb SD card in get 4 hrs straight.

Wow, that's awesome. Gotta get one.

Atleast batteries are cheap.

Do you have the top model with gyroscopic stabilization?

No, I have the previous generation Aiptek 1080p because it had the fixed focus. The last generation Action HD had auto focus which would constantly hunt while on the track. The new one apparently has auto focus but the ability to lock the focus. As well, it has an external mic which I had to modify mine for a jack.

Larry Some day you will keep your arm in the car....Some day :)

On the straits a Z06 has a little more power but I am all over them in the corners. I have passed several.
Most recently at Laguna a track that favors high hp cars.

Don- I'm working on it:wink: Many more years before I can earn those golden shoes. In the meantime, it's just fun ( and cheaper) to chase them around the track.

I just watched your video for the first time Jim.

Wow, that is one of the clearest track vids I've ever seen. I'm sold on your set up.
Thanks
