oil temp higher than before

My tech has narrowed down the problem a bit. He noticed the oil pressure problem only occurs after vtec engagement. He thinks it's more of a problem with oil pressure holding up at the head rather than oil passage blockage. He's going to do the rocker arm piston movement inspection (6-36, 6-53). He suspect one or more rocker arm piston might be stuck hence the pressure bleeding. He also suspect the mid rocker arm might be out of place due to the SoS LMA.

Stay tune.... :frown:

Ok, we found the clearance between the rocker arm and rocker arm shaft out of spec. According to the manual, the service limit is 0.08mm, my clearance is over 0.12mm. Talk about excessive wear?!

Unfortunately, the rocker arms and shafts are out of stock and back ordered so I'll try to source a used set somewhere.

Let's hope this is THE problem.

I suspect you've found the footprints, but not the Sasquatch. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see how the rocker interfaces could have worn so fast if the oil pressure was good to begin with (unless they were blocked dry, but if they were, pressure elsewhere in the engine would have been great). Moreso, I strongly doubt that .12mm clearance (as thick as a sheet of paper), though beyond allowable, would cause 0 oil pressure, all else being OK. Again, I hope I'm wrong. Trying to help, not bum you out.
Just curious...are all rocker clearances out of spec by roughly the same amount?

We did a pressure air test (6-53) and found only 1 set of rocker arm properly connected together by the rocker arm piston. That's 1 out of 6 sets in the front bank. My tech also found that the defective rocker arms are not only moving up and down but a bit sideways too which might explain why the rocker arm pistons are not engaging the mid rocker.

So far, this is the only thing we found wrong with the engine. Stay tune....

That I didn't ask my tech. I'll ask tomorrow.

If this is indeed the problem, I have a theory. According to the manual, we're supposed to reinstall all the rocker arms/shaft back to their original locations but I suspect my tech didn't do so and he carelessly mixed them all up, wrong shaft with the wrong rocker sets. Maybe.... maybe.....

My car was running fine and dandy before, never had any CEL. After the rebuilt, no vtec in the front bank :(

News flash.....

Yay!! I got pressure in the front bank!!!

Replaced all the rocker arms/shaft in the front bank and mystery solved! ;)

Can't wait to go do a test drive tomorrow!

Thnx for all the help guys!
