Hello Fellow Tri-Staters,
With the official announcement of NSXPO 2016 taking place in Orlando, FL, I know there must be at least one other person interested in making the drive down! Being my first time attending, I immediately requested my time off from work (and husband duties). I'm happy to report both were approved pretty seamlessly, although some with more persuasion than others.

There's already a thread on this -
http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/194167-Announcement-Nsxpo-2016-thread

So, definite interest, in both driving and using the auto train. https://www.amtrak.com/auto-train

I think there is merit in a thread separate from the announcement thread as it is likely to get lost in the clutter.

The DC folks have been talking road trip as well. I would be cautious on Rt 81 south as there is heavy truck traffic on that route and that can be rough on cars due to blown out truck tires.

blue_myriddn - Agreed and thanks for the heads up on Rt 81. Ideally, to make it more fun, we could meet up with other caravans along the way, so that may dictate part of the route to take.

ftuhy - By keeping a separate thread, it keeps things cleaner and better organized. I looked up the Auto Train option which sounds very promising but would make it difficult for some to make. Especially considering the train boards at 4PM from the DC area, thus more travel time: 4hrs to DC + 16hr train ride. Will you be attending NSXPO? Were you debating between the road trip or train?

I intend to attend NSXPO. My body now objects to "endurance" trips, so I'm seriously considering the train option vs an 850 mi drive from the DC area & a 1070 mi total from home (NJ) to Orlando. We have friends in the DC area, so we'd go super laid back - visit them, then meet up with the train. We also have friends in Florida (including one of Ole's neighbors). We'd probably do some visiting there and delay our return trip.

2/6/16 Update: I just checked (vs 2 days ago) and already the discount fares ($138 per person each way) are sold out for the trip down, but available on some days for the return. The standard $263 per person each way are still available. Its $219 each way for the car.

My NSX, bone stock suspension & front spoiler, has 5" of ground clearance so its OK with the minimum 4" required for the train.

Im like the idea of the train half way down.
Just waiting on approval from the wife and i'll be set.

I have interest in going and would prefer the Auto Train idea. I just checked and tickets are about $850 round trip. Suggested clearance is 5" and I'm pretty sure I don't clear that, so that may not work after all.

I also don't think I could take that many days off of work... I would need about 4-5 days off and only have 8 days left that aren't accounted for...

With the East coast (NY/NJ) contingent we have, I am a little disappointed that more guys don't want to make this an epic road trip.. Come on Frankie! Don't let Fernando, Mike, and I be the only ones burning up I-95! Get in the game bro!

If anyone wants to transport via truck keep me in my mind

But the Amtrak literature says 4" - where did you find the 5" mentioned?

Not to mention the cost would be close to half and the fun factor doubled.

Estimated Costs (PP):
Gas: $225 (2,156 mile trip - 24mi/gal - $2.40/gal)
Food: $160 - (Avg $20/meal - 4 meals each way)
Hotel: $100 - (Split a two person room each way)
TOTAL: $485

JT, believe me, I want to be there as well but can't confirm just yet. Got a huge project at work that might hold me off. We'll see and also need the wife's blessing.

I'll be good with whatever the masses decides, I've already got cleared from work, wife & girlfriend

Would of been nice to cruise down with you guys but I'm planning to start my drive on October 28. Do so because I'm going to go visit my parents in Kissimmee Florida as well, so I'm heading out earlier. If anyone else would prefer to leave on the 29th instead, for similar reasons as mine or any other reasons of your own, I wouldn't mind delaying my departing date by one day to cruise together.

If I had the extra days I would have joined you! When are you planning on driving back up? Does it coincide with our return date?

Depending on how I feel while I'm there I'll be returning on the 10th or 11th. Probably like you guys take two days to get to Mass.

I'm planning on driving down from DE the 28 or 29th to visit family as well. As time gets closer maybe we can arrange to meet up along the way.

I'd like to catch the caravan back north with everyone for sure!
