Test drove the following car with an off-idle surge:
91 NSX, Manual, ~32000 miles
Symptoms:
3-4 seconds to start, *slightly* rough idle.
At part throttle while driving the car surges, even after warmed up. Full throttle is less than *full* power, but no hiccups at full throttle. Var. Timing working at appropriate RPM. Idle RPM by tach steady at 800 RPM. Off-idle surge no better or worse with A/C on/off.
No engine lights, no clutch slip. Good fuel, no recent battery disconnects. No recent service.
I've searched the Forum with one post dealing with poor idle. Anyone had this problem and what was your solution? Any other ideas on the least and worst it could be? Fuel injectors need a cleaning, vacuum leaks, throttle body problems????
The current owner has been driving it like this for the entire 6 mos he's owned it. "I thought that was just how it was supposed to be..."
Thanks for your ideas,
