Engine light on. Tester shows code P1457 "Manufacture control emission controls". Can anyone please tell me what is the cause (component) of this malfunction ?

could be a couple of different things ie. gas cap, purge control solenoid, bypass solenoid, two way valve. it is an evap code. check gas cap to see if its tight. if thats not it you need a vaccum gauge and a volt meter to check the system

Thank you for your quick response. Gas cap was OK but we reset the code during testing and the engine light has not come back after 50 miles of driving.

P1457 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System)

From a brief search most people said it was just a loose gas cap. Your light probably won't come back in if that's the case.
