NTK/NGK Oxygen Sensor Question

Currently have a CEL on in my 97 with 45k miles. TCS light also stays on randomly every few times I drive it. Using search I saw that it's probably an oxygen sensor and the local Acura dealer confirmed it yesterday while I had it there for some other stuff saying code P0135 came up.

They quoted me around 280$ plus 14% sales tax here in Canada (Montreal area) for the part plus an hour of labor to install it. Their parts prices are always higher than in the US, but they've been cool about me bringing in my own parts. I just bought some stuff from Tim Poliniak at www.oemacuraparts.com recently (great experience, btw) and saw I can get a cheaper OEM sensor there, but reading the threads it seems an NGK/NTK sensor through www.summitracing.com or www.sparkplugs.com might be the way to go.

I guess what wasn't 100% clear in all the threads I went through was the equivalent sensor from NGK/NTK for part 36532-PBY-J01 (Sensor RR. Primary Oxygen). It seems it is this one, but I would like to double check before I order:

NGK-24587 "Right front application"
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NGK-24587/

So if someone more mechanically inclined and more familiar with these sensors could confirm this is the right one I would greatly appreciate it!

Note: unfortunately the dealer here in Canada says they can't replace it for free under the extended emissions warranty. My car was imported from the US 2 years ago.

Here you go!

Thanks for the reply. Was originally looking to replace only one, but I'm seeing a lot of posts saying I should just have both replaced while I'm at it.

I ended up buying the 2 sensors from Summit Racing. They had the lowest price for NTK sensors, but I had to wait a while since they don't keep these in stock.

Seems Amazon also sells these and offer an even better deal (about $6 less for the one sensor I checked and free shipping), although you have to be very patient: "usually ships in 4 to 7 weeks".

You realize these don't take a tremendous amount of work to replace. I consider it a doityourselfer and save that labor charge.

+1 for Sparkplugs.com sensors

Save some serious dough

^ Absolutely. Haven't bought a O2 sensor from a dealer in years. Speakplugs.com and oxygensensors.com are great. Can I ask why you're looking for NTK/NGK sensors when Honda OEM is usually Denso?

I've never heard of the other plugs, but I've heard that the NTK ones last longer than Denso.

Hmmm, my experience has been exactly the opposite. NGK spark plugs seem to last longer than Densos but Denso O2 sensors outlast NGK. I tried the NGK O2 sensors on my Legend and they only lasted about a year, the Densos are still in there.

SOS seems to think that the NGK are better.

Other option
Oxygensensors.com
I bought from them.many time. Cheap and free shipping. Denso O2.

+1

Original Hondas and Toyotas use Denso O2 sensors, but NTK O2 sensors are a little cheaper.
