Wow I never knew that compartment was there.

Those Honda engineers think of everything.

No wonder I couldn't hear any sound from the center speaker.

Quick run to your car and see if you have one. :)

It would be really cool if there was no pull tab sticking out and it was spring loaded and you push to open it like on some cabinet doors........Hummm

HA! I tried that but it didn't work.
With the spring load you have to push it in first, before it pops out.
Only then can pull it open.
The speaker grill will not push in.

Sure, search my car! My pants too? Uhhh...

hmmm... Great option for all the narco-traffickers out there, err- I mean all the NSX'ers out there! :D

Im sure if you figure out something else you will try it but its still a clean install.

That is a really brilliant idea and an even better install!

One thing on the photos... The close-ups are really blurry... Did you put it on the "close-up" setting with the "flower" ? If not could you try and re-post so I can see how you did this?

I am a bit far away to come over and have a look...

excellent post...

Thanks for the flower tip, I guess i should have read the manual. lol!

Thanks....

That is Brilliant! I can see that you have in fact manufactured the holder yourself!

Oh I need this!!!... Are you using the OEM radio/cassette head unit?

I sort of assumed that you weren't because of this thread.

I wanted the I pod to slide in with out having to disconnect the plug at the bottom, so I took my Ipod docking station and modded the heck out of it.
I had to take it apart and add 2 hinges on the bottom, then I moved the connections on the back so they faced up. This way the wires didn't rub up against the back of the car when you opened it. We then wrapped the I pod in speaker cloth to protect it, we heated up some hard plastic and wrapped it around the I pod to make the sleeve. Glued the ends together and used some fiberglass resin to attach it to the base, added another hard piece of plastic to the back to keep it from opening too far. Screwed the hinges to the back side of the speaker holder, then made a new speaker cover out of wood and wrapped it in speaker cloth. The only problem was the docking station didn't let the audio go to the head unit, due to the speaker output on the back side.
So we plugged a speaker cord into the output and had to slice it into the cable that went to the head unit.
You can use the I pod serial cable and plug it into the bottom of the Ipod to skip this problem. You would just have to unplug the cable every time.
Hope this all makes sense. :)
If you plan on doing this I can take it apart and take a few more pics.

wow... VERY nice install...

good work!

one question thou. how r u going to chg the music if it's behind that speaker cover?

The I pod is hooked up to my Alpine head unit, that controls it and recharges the battery. There is no need to touch the I pod once its in the holder.
I didn't want it rolling around in my glove box or anyone to steal it, if they broke in to my car they will never find it.

Hi

You could buy the FM transmitter for that trip. Then you have all your Ipod music on the NSX Bose stereo. That would be a easy way to do it. There are other ways to do it too, but they requires a installation.

I am not that into Ipod's but you will probably find a kit that charge and also transmits to the radio.

Regards

the transmitters that are built for the ipod work better than the generic ones one the market. much clearer transmission. $40 bucks at the apple store
