Hi

Should we get a group buy going on some therapy to control our anger?

I have read a few threads here lately and I think we need to calm down a little.

If you are all worked up about something you read on Prime, then maybe wait a few hours and see if you are still worked up before you reply.

We have a great community here and no need to make it suffer with a lot of misunderstandings and harsh words.

Regards

Great idea! Hmmm, maybe Doc Martin. Doesn't that have a nice ring to it?

Post Script: For those of you that can't tell this is in humor.

Hi

:-)

Well not sure if I am the right guy to help.. My solution would probably involve some rubber bats and a locked door and let them sort it out themself :)

Regards

Hi

Because it fits better with the S&M crowd where I think many of these would feel more at home??

Maybe post on the alt.painandsuffering or alt.mycarislongerthanyoucar lists:D:D

Don't you mean "CLAM DOWN" as suggested in one of those angry threads you refer to?

I'm sure that there are some members that think I am one of the offenders, but I will chime in anyway..there are certain members that thrive on the conflict, they need it because it seems its the only attn they can get ..so trolling and pissing people off gets them instant gratification....I won't name any names though

It wouldn't bother me if Lud went thru the recent threads and banned certain persons that have shown a consistant arguementitive tone. :frown:

Who knows maybe he is on their six now.

probably not a bad idea for a group anger management course.

but having said that, these are interesting times those of us in the US are living through these past few weeks and i think it's not unusual or necessarily a *bad* thing if there's some + / - extremes to postings... for every "ph*ck you and the horse you rode in on", there's another thread full of thoughtful and positive advice 's happening that's **completely** unrelated to owning an nsx.

fwiw, my experience is that a community such as this will self-monitor behavior and those who others find are not playing by the rules will be minimized by lack of response/participation to their postings.

What's happening is that as the NSX becomes more affordable, a lot of younger racer wannabe kids are getting into the scene, and posting on NSX Prime. Most of them are very respectable and easy to get along with.

There are a few though that spout off and speak very rashly with little thought. It's inevitable, as the NSX becomes affordable to this group of people.

If you watch MTV or deal with younger kids these days it shouldn't be a shock to anyone.

I can’t say I even know any names of any of those offenders. But I'll tell you that it disappoints me that the maturity level seems lower than I thought. I thought surely this wouldn't be a "tuner site". It seems closer than I thought. :frown:

This is not ment as a flame but...
In your last 3 posts you keep saying the same things about this site, if you don't like it here just you can point and click somewhere else.

I hope the "self-monitoring" continues or even escalates. Because the "attack" posts I see could have been easily avoided if the "person" on the responce end of the post would sit back and not post. I don’t care what you have been through, give the guy a break. I am sure the attackers have never ever put their foot in their mouth. I'll even bet if you ask them they are even capable of walking on water. These are the people that throw stones and live in glass houses. We all see posts that don’t make sense, SO WHAT!!! JIMMY CRACKED CORN!!!!

"Crack-Corn" referred to White People and originally meant the White natives of Kentucky. It was apparently a variation of "corncracker" which meant a poor white farmer and was apparently applied to the natives of Florida, Georgia, Kentucky or Tennessee possibly because of their dependence on corn or maize. It is a derogatory term for poor white trash and has been since the Civil War.

What are you trying to say here my friend? Please explain yourself.

Okay Terrance L, here is some information for you. I believe you did agree to the rules of the site.

"To help make this online community run smoothly, we have established the following rules and policies which we do insist all members abide by. Continuing with this registration process signifies your acceptance of and agreement to these terms:

4. FLAMES ARE NOT TOLERATED. Rational, polite, and constructive discussion and debate are welcome. Flames, bashing, personal attacks, or immature attitudes are not. If you have a problem with another member or something they have posted, work it out with that user in PRIVATE or just ignore their posts. If the situation continues, contact the administator. Flames and personal attacks on the message board will result in deletion of the offending messages and possibly suspension or revocation of posting priviliges without warning and at the administrator's sole discretion.

7. WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE. If you wouldn't say something in mixed company or at work, don't say it here. Likewise, don't post things (esp. pictures) that people might get in trouble for viewing at work. There is no shortage of other places on the Internet people can find those things.

13. These guidelines and rules are subject to change at any time. You should review the rules on at least a quarterly basis. Your continued use of this site 90 days after a rule change implies your acceptance of the change."

-Cheers

p.s. I'm very surprised that Captain would not follow the rules.

That's not a bad idea. :D

I'm just going to follow Wonko the Sane's lead and build an asylum to keep all the wackos in (or is it "out"?). As a public service, I have posted some instructions for others to do the same:

How To Build Your Own Asylum
  1. Find or build a house on the beach (a modest single level one will do)
  2. Remove the wall facing the sea
  3. Remove the roof
  4. Put a new 'roof' on which, instead of covering the house, it slants outward (i.e. it's like a funnel of square three sided sorts)
  5. Now strip down the walls to their bare drywall or wood or etc
  6. Put some nice siding on the inside walls (a pale slate grey will do nicely) p.s. I wouldn't suggest brick, it's hard to keep clean
  7. Put up some tacky wallpaper (say yellow and orange flowers with diagonal red stripes) on the outside of the walls
  8. Maybe put up some nice soothing pictures on the outside of the walls ( just to keep the inmates calm and happy)
  9. Rip the carpeting off the floor boards (you won't be needing it anymore) in fact, get rid of the floor boards altogether so you are now standing on the sand between three nicely sided walls and the sea
  10. Grow some nice green grass where the floor used to be (you may need topsoil or maybe just sod it)
  11. Put up a few square metres of decking (optional)
  12. Get a nice lawn/deck chair and sit in it on your lawn/deck facing the sea
  13. Get up and shut the door if you haven't already done so (you don't want any of the inmates getting out)
You should now be sitting facing the sea between three nicely sided walls while all the inmates are shut inside the asylum content to use their packets of toothpicks or look at the soothing pictures you put up on the wall for them. You are now outside the asylum.

p.s. Do not lock the door, as you will need one of the inmates to bring you food once in a while.

-hope this helped

Lud could add a SQL Server filled with VINs and when a user signs on they must enter the VIN from thier car and the Server matches the VIN to the user and to the valid list of NSX units.....no more ricer kids flaming away

But that wouldn't solve the problem of NSX owners with nasty tempers and few social skills.

It saddens me to see the rehtoric here. ....Thats all. :frown:

I hear what you are saying. The same thing happened on a 300ZX site that I won't name. As the Z aged, more and more could afford it, and the car ultimately turned into a ricer's dream. Sadly enough this was the catalyst that drove me to sell my Z, a car I've been told numerous times was probably one of the best, if not the[/] best example in existence.

I don't think that this is the issue here. I think the issue here, with a more sophisticated member base, is differing ideas regarding politics.

I think another dynamic at work here is that there are few genuinely new things to talk about regarding the NSX. The NSX has been essentially unchanged for 14 years. Nearly every conceivable topic has been beaten to death here. You name it, we've been there done that a dozen times. Newcomer questions are usually answered with a terse "do a search" by the Forum Nazi or his numerous self-appointed minions. So, inevitably it seems, new conversation turns to tangential matters related to the forum itself, and not to the cars which brought us here originally.

I believe we largely have a fine, intelligent, and polite group of members here but I daresay that familiarity breeds contempt, and with so many people here being so familiar with the NSX, and with so little new to talk about, it seems the most compelling subject these days is whether so-and-so should have posted in the off-topic forum and not the regional forum. IMHO this malaise will continue until the next NSX, or whatever it's called, hits the streets.

Again???

Just kidding... :D

I'd say a large number of individuals on NSX Prime have pent up anger and aggression. And how's that working for you? :D

I can provide free professional anger management if you appear on my TV show. Otherwise I hold private 1-on-1 sessions from $1500 per hour. ;)

The Forums Nazi had a tragic childhood. He is now obsessed with the search to fill a void of inadequacy as he seeks to 'search out' his own identity in life. :D What Forums Nazi really needs is a some love. Come here Forums Nazi, let me give you a hug. :D
