If we leave Weds. we might spend the night in the Albany, NY area and drive the rest of the way Thurs. Morning. Not Finalized yet.

Just curious, who from the region is attending
and what is your game plan?

Any New England guys planning to caravan?

Still too early to know exactly Rich.If Pete and Larry need help earlier then I may go up Wed.My other moving target is Whether Trish will be able to make it.

Is anyone coming from the Long Island area? I may drive back to NYC and visit my folks on Tues. I can not think of any good route to get from Corning to Long Island without hitting some pot hole laced roads around the city :( but I'm sure there are guys who know the "good roads" to take :)

there are a few different routes you can take but I usually take 17 back toward the Tappan Zee Bridge. You catch take the pallisades parkway or go across the Tappen Zee and catch a few nice roads back toward the city as well.

Hirofumi Tomiyoshi and his posse will be arriving at JFK on Thu., 10/7, and I have committed to escorting them up to the Glen. Tony D. will also be joining. Anyone else is welcomed to join in.

From the tri-state area, Bailey is right, 17 is one of the ways up there and that's the way I plan on going (via Tappan Zee Bridge). The funny thing is, after getting on 17, you soon feel like you're in a different state other than NY!

Also, for all of those driving... NY State Troopers tend to be quite active on 17, so keep alert. Having said that, I do plan on Hirofumi-san driving my NSX a good part of the trip up there. I can just hear it now... Uhh, trooper your honor majesty sir, apologies for the high rate of speed, but my friend here is from Japan and ummm... have you ever heard of Grand Turismo?

Miled, I wonder is there reciprocity with NY? If he gets a ticket here will his insurance rates go up, or just yours (JK) Coming back from Kids Day I made the 260+ miles in 3hrs20min not bad for a "stealth yellow" car!! All kidding aside, rte 17 is brutal, and the troopers will not cut you any slack, so be careful!!!

Hi Roger,

That's a very good question and while I did think about it, I'm not sure of the answer. I wonder if he's even allowed to drive here? I should ask Bob. Your timing coming back is amazing! You're lucky they weren't patrolling 17 with their Cessnas that day.

I fly well under the radar screen. Your friend might be required to obtain an international license that would give him the right to drive here.

Ahhh, that's right... You have a very impressive V1 set up. But does it pick up airplanes?:D

I lived in Germany for 3 years and had an European drivers license. Is Japan's license equivalent to European's or? FYI... Hirofumi-san is an NSX Club of Japan member, and he has an NSX-R.

Yes, Mr. Hirofumi will need to get an International Driver's License. However, it's very easy to obtain. That's what my parents do when they visit me from overseas.

Hi TigerNSX,

Where can Hirofumi-san get this international license? Will his Japanese driver license suffice here?

Ciao...

Dear Miled,

Mr. Hirofumi can get his international license from Japan. It should be very easy to obtain. They should have some type of offices in which you walk in with your license and a passport picture, and they will make one for you while you wait. The license should be valid for one year.

In the U.S., when I travel outside, I simply go to AAA, and pay $12 or something, and I get the international license.

I hope this helps.

TigerNSX,

Your information helped a great deal. Thanks very much for the clarification. I will inform Hirofumi-san.

If I am able to take off I would head up thursday night, if not probably friday night. :)
Since Hirofumi-san arrives just after 11AM on 10/7, I will probably be on my way up ~noon time.

Sounds like a start to a caravan, that time sounds "doable" for me, let's see if we can get a few "pickup" places and times set, we do have plenty of time before 10/7 so there's really no rush :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Hey Clem,

Before you can attend NSXPO, you will need to have your dash redone and OEM wheels installed.

And Jesse has to have a SmarTenna installed as well!

Hi Roger,

Since Hirofumi-san does not know his way around (especially JFK and surrounding areas), I will probably meet him at the airport. After I connect with him, he will pick up his rental and we will then begin our journey to the Glen. If you are interested in meeting up that day (10/7), let me know and you can rendezvous with us somewhere.
