nsxclub.ca ?

I thought it was install, hope to forget, tune, tune more, forget, tune, then forget.

Yeah I did have some issues, which ended up being tied to the ESM voltage set incorrectly. In general though there are barely any knobs to twist, so there's not much you can screw up. A turbo where you put in a new engine management system on the other hand can require significant tuning time...

Hm..seems like an SC could be in plans then, if everyone here somewhat agrees it's a turnkey system. Since it's ok to jack my own thread, can u guys answer a few things for me instead of having me to start this same topic in the SC forum....I want a "forget system", but are there anything I should do in the begining, when installing the SC, so everything "matches"..like ecu, fuel lines...etc. Also, the point of "checking" at times, is there a respectable maitaince u recommend, like when I take the car in for oil change, to have these times check what ever involves the SC? And..50% increase in power? Is it really that much? My guess, (altho I know crap all about cars) was maybe up to 330 whp...which is around 17%of my stock '98. Is this with headers, air systems, back end exhaust, ignition, sparks, and even fuel added? I just don't want to even open up my engine block if I don't have to. As Red mentioned, I'd rather have this car drive flawlessly with no headaches. Just to add a little more jump to this car, which i'm sure many will agree that it can use. I can have all the speed I want in my Gsx-r on the track!

My Comptech supercharger (autorotor) came with EVERYTHING I needed. Installed it and dynod it at 360 rwhp shortly after (from about 250rwhp stock). I had an exhaust, cantrell AIS and unifilter prior to charger install. It is not necessary to do anything inside the engine until youre around 400 whp.

Could be hard to find that charger though.

WOW!..that's way more than I thot. Hard to find SC's? I thot Comptech will be getting them back soon, and SoS still has them on their site. Altho brand new at over 10g's usd. Is that the bolt on, set it, and forget it... system? What's the (autorotor)?

What's the (autorotor)?

Dave thinks thats the part you put the chicken or suckling pig on a cook it as you do "hot laps" at mosport - I like hanging with Dave at the track - he always has the best lunches!

The autorotor is the newer Comptech SC. Previously they used a whipple blower. Autorotor runs cooler and thus more efficiently and seems to be a bit higher boost too. Comptech closed their doors, but it looks like they may revive themselves.

But its the big brake sump that produces the heat to cook the turkeys! Paul's NSX hunts the turkeys on the track and Dave's cooks them to perfection! (If anyone has an extra passenger side mirror for Paul PM me, he doesn't read the board much)

I have the Gruppe M SC (which uses a positive displacement Eaton M90 blower) and absolutely love it. Made the car go from mild to wild in 1 day. I dyno'd at around 360 as well but the best thing about mine is that you get a nice FAT torque curve starting at 2500 all the way to RL. Like most SC systems out there, its discontinued and you'd best look for a used one. Mine was also plug and play complete with its own ECU though I opted for the aem ems instead. I also went with bigger injectors and fuel pump and colder plugs just to be safe. I think the safety cutoff is 400hp, and don't exceed 8-9lbs of boost. I am running 6.5 lbs.

Tapp Auto on a Mustang.

356whp@7800rpm.

Nathan's GM SC dyno'd at almost the same hp, with the GM ECU in place.

I should add that Chris Tapp dailed it back to a safer 340 after that max run. He keeps a copy of the nicer dynosheet in the showroom wall of fame though ;)

The dynojet reads 364 on dali's website, though I think his customer's was intercooled.
