I just called the Nugget for reservations. They told that they were unaware of an event at Reno-Fernley in May.
I was told to call back tomorrow after 10:00 local time to check when management is available.
Is there or is there not a special rate for events at Reno-Fernley?

We're back up and running with the Nugget pricing. Here's the note from our web page:
We recommend staying in Sparks/Reno, and enjoying the off-track time in the evening. Currently, we are planning on the Nugget, and have a special rate for track attendees and family. When you call the registration desk, ask for rate "GRFR" or simply tell them you're attending a track event on May 22-3 at the Reno-Fernley track. They should be aware of the deal.

Talked to a couple more folks over dinner and it seems that we are gathering quite a momentum from the Bay Area NSX owners, how about folks elsewhere in the state?? Remember that the discount pricing goes up after May 1st, so sign up soon!

Yup. Trailering is cheap insurance if something goes wrong.
