NSX wins the class in the SCCA pro solo in blytheville!

They wont know. Especially the STMPO rear bumper, and if you paint the DF carbon side vents.

Well, not until you win something at nationals and get protested and the scrutineers snap on their gloves and begin probing. I don't think a CRX has won nationals in a while without having to pop their valve cover off at the end (only slightly sarcastic). People take this here parking lot racing fairly serious in some parts

However, to counter-point myself, I doubt many of said inspectors will have seen many if any NSXes before, sooo......

Congrats!
Please share with us what mods you have on your car and details on you set-up for autocross.
I used to do autocross for 10+ years and our road racing track has been closed down.
You're tempting me to get my NSX on an autocross course.

Cheating gets you nowhere except kicked out of the SCCA. Last year, a rare 968 (car that nobody knew much about) came out of nowhere and took a win in DC. Long story short, it was protested and little items like this were found. The officials and participants do a great job keeping things in check. That said, I would be absolutely sure everything is 100% legal on this NSX. People like myself and a few others in the class don't really care since driving is most of it, the other half does. Throw in the contingencies and other perks, it may make more sense to protest if it wins you some tires, points, and money...

Anyways, back to the point of this post ... Big congrats Vivik on the win! Glad to see a NSX out!

Jadrice and I really wanted to attend this, but just couldn't find a way to make this event work out. We both plan to make Toledo. FYI, call and put your name on the waiting list. Last year, most of those on the list got in! B-Stock is possibly one of the friendliest classes and on of the few where the competitors root for each other and want to get faster as a whole. I also plan to make the Peru Tour, the Fall Blytheville Tour, and National Champs. Hope to see you out and would love more guys like you to make these events. In the end, I hope we all get faster the right way!

BTW, Aaron (the track guy mentioned) is part of our local club, I wouldn't take it as any indication if he beats you. He has zero fear of wrecking along with some amazing talent.

Edit ... A 2.0 60' time is perfection from an S2000. You typically see them in the 2.1-2.2s due to the low tq, stiff wall auto-x tires, and high rear camber. Greg must have been nailing the launches. The vettes and Solstices will see 1.9s and Kozlaks 993 will do 1.7s! With the NSX, I would expect to see it in the sub 2.0s when you get it down.

that's just not my style. call me idealistic/stupid... but i want to do this the right way :)

trust me, people will do their research. they will come armed with more information about the car than 99% of NSX drivers know/have about their own cars.

marc, good to see you here. i have heard a lot about you from a local ex-s2000 autocrosser... drew vanderploeg. drew has been helping me with car setup advice this season so he is very familiar with my car... which is 100% stock/legal. the only aftermarket items on it are the big front sway bar, koni shocks, and honda badges instead of acura badges :). yes, i am still lugging around the heavy stock exhaust too.

i appreciate the kind words. i met jadrice at the TX tour (where i finished dead last in class). that was 2 days after installing the konis... and i had not realigned the car... only to find out later that the rear was 2/3" toed out :). we had a maxq data logger on my car for a few runs to compare my runs with another local guy (ricky crow who got 2nd in b-stock at that event), and the interesting thing was that i was keeping up in all the transitions... and losing ground on EVERY corner exit. which made sense when i found out the rear was so toed out. no rear end stability meant having to wait a damn long time before being able to get on the gas.

mostly though, i just drove poorly at that event.

i am not going to be able to make any of the other tours/pros this year... but i look forward to meeting you and the rest of the class at nats. you said it best... the idea is for us all to get faster.

my 60' times at the pro could have been better. i'm still learning to launch this car, and more importantly, it is still on the original clutch (now with 80k miles on it)... meaning it is nearing the end of its life, and i want the clutch to make it through this season :). greg had some AMAZING launches in the s2000!

Not much to add other than I've always had a thing for NSX(s) so seeing one out on a (pro)solo course is a welcome change. Congratulations on great performance and good luck at the next event, especially in Lincoln (seeing how you're signed up and all that).

Thats awesome you took a win for the nsx. I only seem to do so on not such a closed track. I really want to take it out like you have. Sucks you cant do the said items above as it will get you kicked out. Can you do mods like the type r would have or do you have to stay stock the way you bought it? Cause if that was the case a zandari would be sweet out there.

the ONLY mods allowed are:
- any front sway bar
- any shocks (with stock springs and at stock ride height)
- any cat back exhaust

other than that, the car must be as normally sold through a US dealership. the type-r was never sold in the USA, so it is totally illegal. if i owned a zanardi it would be fine, but you cannot mix/match parts from different years and models of nsx's.

i honestly dont care about modding. i have no temptation for it. just driving is damn fun :)
