NSX vs Trans Am

Don't get me wrong, I like to drive fast and I'm not a complete angel on public roads, BUT (and this is big) I don't cut lanes ever. Just like I treat guns as if they are loaded even when I know they're not, I treat that other lane like there's a car coming even when I can see there isn't.

Now even if I accept that not everyone feels that way about lanes, what makes this video inexcusable is that truck coming from the other direction. Even if s/he wasn't endangered (arguable), s/he surely was alarmed and IMO it is our responsibility to avoid alarming the citizenry.

Why? Because that's the kind of crap that gets ever more and ever more draconian laws passed to impair our enjoyment on the road. To that end, idiot driving like in this vid (and others posted by the same person) affects me and everyone else as much as it does them. I have a problem with that and I'm not ashamed to say so. You want more localities to pass laws to confiscate cars and more harshly punish sporty drivers? Keep it up.

Idiots ruin it for everyone.

but i agree, you can see through the turn, and you can safely cut the corner. (although, i wouldn't cut the corner unless i saw that nobody was coming at all)

I guess the laws pertaining to double yellow lines don't apply to you and everyone else who thinks it's okay to cross over it at their disposal.

The guy kinda has a history of street racing and posting it.

check out his other videos ! I like the civic cam!

OP has a reputation for these "street-racer-i-am-better-than-you-live-on-the-edge-thug-life-fifty-cent" type of videos, moving on....

...Lord knows thats why we bought them...

Lord knows?! Well, he didn't like us to see street-racing with crossing the lane, does he? But this was certainly not Honda's intention.

In general: this thread brings the IQ of nsxprime down and is now worth for the idiotic trash folder.

What? If you can see a mile ahead, and spin out when there's nobody there.... nothing happens.

Nobody's all over this picture.

It's just as "dangerous". A car, stopped in the middle of two lanes for a picture!?! What if a van with 14 kids in it just happened along out of nowhere and slammed into it!?! It'll never happen, since they can probably see what's going on and there's nobody coming.

Was it smart? No, not really; the lines are there for a reason. Was it as stupid and dangerous as people are making it out to be? No.

Probably the most stupid comparison I've ever read. Comparing a photo shoot on a road with ZERO traffic, to street racing in the opposite lane with on coming traffic. GOOD ONE! I hope you have a job where your lack of logical thinking can't injure others around you.

omg flaming international internet police, run for your life justin

Klayton: We know we can't stand each other, do we? As far as IQ on nsxprime is concerned it will raise immediately if you don't post here anymore.:D

Well, the comparison is valid... People always bitch and moan about street racing when there is NO ONE else on the street; how is that dangerous? It isn't. But I guarantee that if I post a street race between me and an S2000 on a deserted road here, I'll get flamed.

So unless that road was closed for the shoot, there's the chance that traffic may just come along.

Is it dangerous? No, not at all. But neither are 99% of street races.

Then why when the on coming went by they moved the camera to look back at the vehicle and why would the trans am have to get back in his lane to prevent an accident? I saw the car. You saw the car. So how was there NO ONE else on the street?!

And I'm pretty sure most of the people on nsxprime are against street racing in general. It's not like are picking on him specifically.

The fact you are sticking up for him leads me to believe that you would probably rev your engine at any car with a pep boys muffler welded on.

dangerous or not, I think we can all agree that the is one of the lamest videos ever on Prime...

Haha, no... it's the first car I've had that actually idles pretty good. I never said there was no one else on the road in that video.. I even said it wasn't smart. I just said it isn't the huge deal people are so quick to make it out to be. He was done his corner and back into his lane before he was close to oncoming traffic.

If buddy in the Trans Am can't see around the NSX, then he shouldn't be over the line.

You know, I usually stay away from threads like this, and I'll leave my opinion out. But this reminds me of what happened to my friend. Same type of country road. Long sweeping turns with flat open fields, so you can see well into the turn.

He was riding a motorcycle, GXSR, and was following a bike or two and being follow by a bike or two. Well, the guy directly in front of him went into a turn and was able to stay within his lines. My friend, different bike, different rider, different outcome. He ended up going into the on coming lane. Unfortunately, this empty county road happened to be frequented by motorcycles. He hit an oncoming rider head on. They both passed away.

Now, after I heard about this, I couldn't help but think, why was the guy in front of my friend going into the turn so fast. Well, obviously he could handle it. But something inside me still felt like he should have seen the oncoming bike and slowed down, instead of in a way leading my friend into the same turn at the same speed. If he had been cautious and slowed down, so would my friend, and he would still be with us.

I know I know, it's a part of life. And he was responsible for his own actions. But in hind sight, I can't help but wonder these things, and I think it's only natural to wonder why, and what if, and what not...

And I'm by no means perfect, so I'm not trying to preach. But all I can say, is be safe.

Not trying to pass judgement, but your friend should have stayed within his abilities, just as we should in our cars. In no way is the rider ahead of him responsible.

Yes, as I stated, he was responsible for his actions. But I assure you, if I'm being followed by anyone, and I do into a turn fast and there is on coming traffic, I'm going to slow down so that the person behind me can slow down and make the turn as well.

I guess it's called looking out for each other. If I'm being followed and there is something in the road ahead of me, I'm not going to just swerve out of the way and let my buddies deal with it. I'll tap my break lights to alert them to slow down.

Hoons travel in packs. The car in front of him dipped into the left lane too...

Video didn't really demonstrate anything to me other than people get WAY too aggressive when on "country drives".

They may be scarcly traveled by comparison to city streets, but country roads STILL aren't race tracks.

If there was a car that he didn't see there and at that speed if he had tried to get back in his lane trying to go around a corner is very tricky....he would have rolled it and the video would never had made it to you tube. It would have been evidence. Theres been many times Im at at a red light and when the light turns green....Im on the gas!!! The difference for me is that when I reach the speed limit for the street I let off the gas. Going way above the speed limit is just stupid. I've always told people that the nsx is not fast but quick, the fun is getting to speed limit the quickest.

I'm not trying to start an argument with you, but when I used to ride with a group we only rode as fast as the slowest person felt comfortable, and we never crossed the yellow. There is a great article called riding "the pace." Anyone who rides should read it.

Whenever I drive in a group that I'm new to, we usually let the slow people lead. I wouldn't want someone new to be bringing up the rear for a lot of reasons, including getting hit by them myself.
