NSX Secrets?

Mine has that switch, i think most t tops have it. It is so you can have roof off and lock hatch with roof and lock glove box with trunk switch. As for hood, whats there to take plus alarm goes off either way ;)

My EDM 92 NSX doesn't have those 3 storage compartments but only the big one
Not convenient for coins  or little things.
94-05 come with the 3 compartment arm rest console.

My '93 has all 3. I'm a little shocked that people did not know about this.
Seems pretty obvious.
The previous owner probably replaced your 93 arm rest console with the 94-05 arm rest console.

My car is an European one (EuDM) and the compartment on the left (the one
not on the arm rest) is actually "full" of switches :
one for the front fog lights
one for the rear fog light
one for the front lights washers
one for the height adjustment of the front lights

I've seen a few things about how the fuel door is a gas cap holder, but can't figure out how it works. Anybody have a picture to help me out?

As for my contribution, I've discovered that if you take a pair of large tweezers (ask your dentist if they have old ones, or needle-nose pliers might work, too), stand at either rear wheel with the trunk open and reach around the hinge/piston that supports the trunk, you can clean out twigs/leaves/pollen/etc. that collect in that hard-to-reach area where the outboard edge of the trunk is closest to the passenger compartment. If I'm not mistaken, there may be a drain hole in that area, too, which is probably good to keep clear.

i don't have a picture of the gas cap,but if you take it with your right hand after you unscrew it,then hold it like that and push it from right to left into the bottom left corner of the fuel filler door,it will hold in there.it wasn't obvious to me at first, and was a bit tricky to fit it in there.

Here are 2 photos from my 97 of the storage bin between the seats.

Does anyone else have this same setup on their '93? I find it very hard to believe the previous owner took the time to swap out the center console as my car is nearly 100% stock and the old owner was ANAL!

I'm pretty sure all 93s had the split center console.

They did away with the "DOHC VTEC" emblem and the single opening console after 92.

My '93 does have the split console as well as the DOHC badge.

Ravi,

Do you have an aftermarket security system (alarm)? My guess is that the switch is the override.

While I was trying to see if I had this red button. I noticed this thing near where the hood release is. Anybody know what it is? I also want to thank the guy that showed pictures of how the gas holder works.

Has anyone recommended this thread be a sticky yet?

I didn't figure out the gas cap holder until 1-2yrs after owning the car!

I too would like to thank him - and the NSX needs gas, so I'm printing it out and trying it on the way home from work!

It took me a year or two also, even knowing it was supposed to be there!

Be careful though, the door + cap can blow shut very easily and the cap will go rolling, usually under the car, when that happens. Ask me how I know.

well did you know if your ever trapped in the trunk the newer stlye NSX's have a trunk release lever on the driverside where the trunk light is on a 1992, I dont know what year that started the trunk relese button though.

I dont think I will ever get trapped in my trunk though either

and my 1992 does not have the split armrest console. I would like to have one though LOL

I kinda force my cups between the door bolster and my seat belt to hold my cups. if you dont do it right it will tip over on high speed turns

I didn't know about the gas cap holder till after i forgot the gas cap at a gas station. After i went for a good drive i smelt fuel and noticed that i left it off. Went back and it was gone of course and the station didnt have it so i had to buy a new one.:frown:

I couldn't find it with a brief search but I know someone said that the "balance" trick doesn't work on some of the cars. It works in my 2005 NSX. In the video the parking lights are on. I pop out the balance and then give it a pull, I then push it back and pull it out again. The lights turn on and off as you push in and pull out on the balance. (Turn down the volume; it's our local "pop" station).

I agree. I've owned mine for a few months and have always wondered why the freakin fuel door doesnt have a proper holder for the gas cap. it does, OMG!!! i was so excited when I figured it out after reading this thread. AMAZING! lol

I just tried out the gas cap trick - it worked! I was afraid I'd always be standing there like a tool holding the gas cap in my hand... A lot trickier than on my Accord or any other car I've ever filled, though - those always seem to just have a "rack" that the cap sits in.

Another place to put it is in the pump handle (if you're in one of those states where they don't have the auto-run thingees on the pumps.) Hard to forget it when your hand hits it as you remove the pump.

Hmmmm......I'm not sure this is how its supposed to be on there or at least I do it a little differently. Hard to describe so maybe I will just take a pic next time. I place the small flange into the indentation on the cap handle but the cap is sitting in the same spot as this pic. I think its more stable this way. Now sure if that's the way Honda meant it to be or not.
