NSX Refresh Program does exist!

They should do that around here to get the junk off the road.

I agree any junker on the road should be crushed or made to go though a refresh program.

Ron- 27k is probably to pay the yachts pilot for that day.

The CEO of Honda probably lives like P diddy.

you're getting a lot for that price.

get this, McLaren F1's tuneup-only is $25,000

The paiting process is not Macco quality. Even though the price is high, the process a also long. They remove every single none-body panel parts and repaint the car as if it is fresh off the assembly line before final installation; aferwards, all other parts are re-assembled back to factory spec.

Probably will take over two to three weeks worth of work.

I sense jealousy

I have seen quite a few refreshed NSX's in Japan. They do a very good job and pretty much replace all perishable's on the car, you can tell a refreshed car as it has a new NSX footplate that says "NSX Refreshed by Honda" or something like that in the door sill - paintwork like new.

I am not sure that the registration is reset to zero and think that is highly unlikely. Also after living in Japan for 8 years and owning many cars there including 2 NSX's have never heard of the registration going up on older cars, that is not a reason - what does go up naturaly is the cost of getting an older car through the Shaken test or yearly inspection - but in the case of the NSX this doesnt really happen with the quality of the machine - might be a problem with an old Lotus or F car etc ...

Haha jealous? No....curious....yes.......but I already stated that they probably strip the car down to bare bones and reassemble it as if they were making a brand new one again.

P diddy

i was thinking more humble terms of the boat i have.

i'll do that 2 weeks of work in a coupe of days. i'll take 1/2 price too so i can "Refresh" my bank account balance.

but seirously im not sure why they are talking off everything. if that is the case tho maybe its worth the labor

Ron- You know as a car guy that from the Factory or most Factory's with high end cars. The reason why the paint job is so good is that they bake everything at a higher temperature and the prep work that goes into it.......so for example lets take the bare chassis for paint.......if you were to take your NSX to most paint shops here in So Cali they could not bake the chasis at such a high temperature as the Factory does....... all the electronics in it would be damaged.........so it is very labor intensive to have to strip a car down to bare bones and then prep it and then bake every piece in high temp for the paint to last as long as it does...........

Thats why a lot of the shops here don't bake the chasis as hot as the factory unless your paying that extra $$$ to have them do the labor for the tear down and that is the same amount of dough someone here in LA/OC would pay to restore their classic/vintage/exotic vehicle........

I remember seeing a show on TLC that their was a shop in OC somewhere that does restoration on vehicles and they charge like 30K to restore or paint a car. I realize that the type of labor and detail they put into the work is worth the money if you have it.

Also I am sure there are more than one shop in so cali that can do that kind of work......but it cost mucho dinero $$$$$

BTW: It is really hard to find a reputable body shop.........I hate how body shops just rip your car apart and when they put it back together nuts and bolts are missing or body parts do not fit right or overspray....not sanding enough etc.......

A good bodyshop will organize all the nuts and bolts they take off and label them so they know which one goes back to which......but 99% of the bodyshops do not do this.........only if you are paying $$$ at the high end ones then they seem to be very careful since you are shelling out that kind of money. Even then you still have to do a check to make sure......

I wonder if Honda would accomodate a request to "refresh" a normal Coupe to a Type-R....

I believe they will and can do it.

But when the customer see the final quote, they are going to faint. Here is an easier alternative:

Route KS offer similar type-r conversion package. The more you spend the more complete the conversion you will get, here are some examples, exterior conversion alone don't count:

So, I wonder if you had one of the LHD Acura NSX Coupes that had been re-imported to Japan, if Honda could refresh it to a full fledged LHD Type-R.

I believe so, money is the only limit, they can refresh everything, change every part and give you a 1 of kind LHD NSX-R.
