-----Translation--------------

Due to the fact that the NSX R GT is a race car based type:

1) lowered stanced induced by lower approach angle there is a possibility that the lower skirt may get damaged

2) There is no toe hook on this model

Please let customers know these two facts.

How to order

Currently all NSX orders are placed Via fax and handled through Honda CS Sales division. The SPECIAL LIMITED PRODUCTION NSX R GT (5 units) will be handled in the same way.

General public order time frame

2/22/05 9am to 3/22/05 19:00 pm

Producation start date

04M NSX R GT will start production in August.

Am I the only one that thinks the Nsx-R GT looks FUGLY:confused:

I understand they are rare and all but the extended body pieces look out of place on the car.

i think that car looks horrendous and its too expensive to boot. I would take the R34 Z tune for half the price and 2X's the speed please.

no thanks...

I read somewhere each car sold for over $200,000.....anyone verify? and who the owners may be?
My friend, $200k would be an absolute steal (relatively speaking, but of-course)... as the NSX-R GT each sold for in excess of $500k USD!

Honda's $500,000 NSX-R GT Hits the Streets in Tokyo

TOKYO — Honda is successfully campaigning its NSX coupe (Acura NSX in the U.S.) at the GT championship in Japan. Now it is translating the victories to street cred with the introduction of a special-edition model based on the GT racer. The NSX-R GT is guaranteed to be exclusive: Only five will be built and each will cost a cool half-million.

Technically, there's not much difference from the normal NSX-R; it's powered by the same 280-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6. However, there are a few carbon-fiber parts, which guarantees better handling and makes the car look like a Transformer: a huge air intake behind the rear window in 1970s racer style, a front apron and an underbody diffuser.

Order lines are open until March 22; the cars will be built in August.

Actually, the number is closer to $500,000 USD. I've researched into who exactly bought each one (Jenson Button is rumored to be an owner though not confirmed) but it's proved fruitless. :frown:

But you can be sure that whomever bought one couldn't care less if there's a faster car. This is a speculative investment where the attraction is purely rarity.

Couldnt agree more, this car wasent about whats faster or what had more power, it was about 5 being built, ever.

Its sort of like the "Super Bee' of Japanese supercars.

Everyone thought it was ugly but that car went and it is now selling for huge dollars (of course refering to the Chrylser HEMI product of earlier years challenger or daytona can't remember which one - had the big ass wing on it which was banned by Nascar).

Old news. Still, if only Honda would just put that new-and-improved, redesigned NSX we've all been waiting for, they wouldn't have to resort to this pieced-together mini-monstrosity just to satisfy Super GT homologation requirements.

damn just when i thought I would play it safe by lowballing the price i come out a dumba$$...

o well. Anyone track one down someplace though...like a collection hall or have vids of this rare car. I have heard of it and seen pics from Honda but i would love to see one in action/real life.

This is exactly the reason they were built, and i think i read somewhere that all 5 were "sold" to upper management within Honda. Ponyboy,Jenson doesn't have one,he has a regular coupe.

I understand they are rare and all but the extended body pieces look out of place on the car.

The reason is that the SuperGT rules allow cars to only have dimensions a certain amount greater than stock. So in order to widen the track, provide a better diffuser design in the rear, and extend the front for better aero, they extended the body parts in this version and sold just enough to make it legal for the rules. If you compare older SuperGT NSXs and the ones after 05, the new ones are a lot wider and longer, thanks to the NSX-R GT.

I scanned the brochure and it is in one of the thread.

The car clearly does not worth $450k, but Honda has to offer it as part of the JGTC racing program. The information on the brochure is extremely vague, but the curb weight is same as standard NSX-R, therefore, I believe there are only cosmetic difference between the GT and Standard R.

I saw a replica of that thing in Japan 2 months ago and that thing was just butt ugly. Those add-ons would look fine on a JGTC NSX which does have them. But on a stock NSX, they are totally out of proportion especially the rear hatch snorkel. The NSX-R GT is a joke just like the $1.4 million Lambo Reventon. At least the Lambo looks proportional.

That's why all five were sold the first day it was released? It's a good thing that we have first amendment right, we can comment on every thing!!!

I still remember when every one was making fun of the NSX R wing back in 2002... "Too Ricy, out of place, etc." Now we have a huge population with it..

Less chin spoiler and submarine binoculars, looks beautiful especially in Red or orang

It should look close to this artist rendition

So you think the 5 sold were due to their "stunning" good look? If one looks at the real JGTC NSXs, they are much wider and come in very contrasty colors and graphics. You can pretty much stick on anything including a miniature sideway toilet as a vent as long as it is functional. For a practically stock NSX with stock width and without any special performance device. That toilet thing is an eye sore and pretentious(ricey). I think it is just butt ugly. It is your car if you want to add that snorkel on it. It is another story how onlookers comment. As far as I know, my NSX friends and the Japanese NSXers that I mingle with don't think the car look nice at all. It's all about tastes. I don't remember "everyone" thought the NSX-R wing was ricey in 2002 but I do remember many people including myself think the sideway toilet vent is ugly on a street NSX. To each his own. Yes, thanks for the first amendment. We just have to accept the fact that we have different tastes, habits, life styles, intelligences, and so on.
