Well as I said originally "I'd just have to admire yours" my last post was to the stupidity of someone saying "if your concerned about MPG one should buy a Prius".

"I" don't like stopping for gas any more than necessary. When I track the car I don't care as that's the side effect of going fast. So as I said before I'll just admire your set up which is very sweet!

Quick question though my E46 M3 had ITBs was a heavier vehicle yet still got reasonable gas mileage so is it your tune that's burning more gas? As to say will a less rich tune gave minimal impact on MPG? Thanks
 
You may get even more power with carburetors.

this is better then the TODA kit, but no one in north america can "fine" tune ITB engines, also if you want ITB to drive on the street, just forget about it, it will never work!
difference race track require different tune for the ITB, so driving it on the street is impossible!
i have calculated the whole thing! tuning and all the parts required came to a total of $15000, for about 30-45whp gain, but still no good for street!
i was dreaming about this setup too...but...realistically...its not happening... :biggrin:

Geez can't stop thinking about these now. I found the Toda kit but there are three different kinds. One for the 3.0 then the 3.2 and the 3.5???

According to the „Unofficial weight reduction thread“, the door speakers and subwoofer weigh 13.2 lbs together. I didn’t weigh my head unit, but it’s not that heavy since there’s no amp in there. Maybe it’s around 7 lbs. If you saved 100 lbs by removing the stereo system and replacing the stock intake with ITBs, then the stock intake must weigh over 80 lbs. The airbox weighs very little since it’s plastic so the magnesium intake manifold and throttle body must be real boat anchors and weigh like 75 lbs together. Does that sound about right?

I don't think the intake manifold and TB are anywhere near 75lbs total. Maybe 15-20. I'd weigh my extra IM and TB but they're still at SOS.
 
Any news on the airbox to go with the ITB from SOS? How do carburetors work? Whats the difference vs ITB?

Assumption is really not a good way to quote.

FYI, I had aftermarket speakers aftermarket amplifier and 10 gause wiring running back and forth from the cabin to the trunk. On top of that I had DVD deck and CD changer deck. and CD changer.

The manifold weighs in at 35 lbs.
my amp weighs in at 20 lbs.
stereo another 10 lbs.
wiring another 10 lbs.
speakers another 10 lbs.
Engine bay fan assembly and miscelaneous parts about 10 lbs.

The ITBs system at most weighs 5 lbs. total.

That's all I can think of

But afterall, I gained nothing for falsefying the weight of my car really. At most it was just general information for everyone to know.
The scale don't lie BTW :wink:

For what it’s worth, my USDM 1991 coupe is pretty much stock weight-wise. I removed the spare tire, spare tire bracket, air compressor, and couple more things. I added undertrays, Dynamat Xtreme, and a few miscellaneous items. In total, my car should weigh like 3 lbs more than a stock 1991. However, with an absolutely full tank of fuel, an agricultural scale said it weighs 1410 kg (3110 lbs). I hope the scale was wrong!

35 lbs. without airbox and a couple sensors. So everything else was on the manifold.

The vehicle responses very different with lighter curb weight, in a good way.
 
Some feed backs on my driving impression with filter elements installed.
Went to a charity event and knowing that the parking lot will be gravels and it might rain so I decided to install the filter elements on my ITB's for the drive.
Besides the sound was less intoxicated so does the power!!! I can feel that the top end power was robbed 20+ WHP. I couldn't feel the top end after VTEC like prior to filter elements installed for sure.
So that to prove that my tuner was right about the disturbant of air suction coming into the throttle with filter elements.
 
Just a small update.
I am not much of a drag racer but went to the drag strip today with SFDreamer.
Ran my car 12.99 @ 106.56 MPH.
Best MPH was 109
per 1/4 mile calculator... at 106.56 MPH ET would be 12.7 and 109 MPH ET would be 12.4
Very happy with the results.
