What parts (no.?) are needed for the stiffer NSX-R differential. I know there's a plate and a spring. I've a 5-speed.

You need one: 41581-PR8-J00 (stopper plate) (Japan part)
You need two: 41696-PR8-000 (spring plate) (all world part)

I'll do this mod when the clutch is gone. Trans has to be opened.

Thanks for the hint with SoS.

Benefit: it's sporty, it's cool. :)

My differential now reads about 80 Nm. Standard is up to 140 Nm. Revision is at 30 Nm or below. If I double it I'll be at 160 Nm but I'm looking for 200+ Nm. I don't think the planetary gears are wearing, it's the clutch discs.

What is the benefit of this mod?
Do you have to drop the trans?

I have this mod. It's mainly a track upgrade. The car comes off the corners better when you get on the power. It keeps power on the outside wheel longer.

Yes, you have to pull the trans and remove the differential to swap out the plates.

Can you feel it on spirited street driving? It doesn't act like in the S2000, does it. In the very first gen, S2000 I had some years ago you could steer the car with the throttle. I don't want it to act that sharp.

Yes you can feel it. I've never driven a S2000, so I can't compare. It is only apparent when applying near full throttle on corner exit.

I had a very deep look in my pictures catalog and found some pics dating back to 2008 when my friend did his FD. Those parts have been suppied but we didn't figure out then how to install them. I guess that it's still the original plate in the picture of the diff internals.

If you deal with NSXCB, Kaz can probably get you the JDM part as you're in no hurry.
If not Kaz try Sudesh. He's pretty handy as well.

Since it's been 15 years i'm a little hazy, but i believe i followed the conventional wisdom from Comptech which was to install two stock shim plates instead of the orginal single plate. It tested at around 110. Point being you may not need the Japan part (?). Should be tons of old posts on this if you could get the search to work.

You must use the Japan stopper plate and the two shims. The Japan part is not optional, since the US part will not allow two shims to fit;).

According to my picture above how do you install it? Two shims on each other and the Japan-plate on them?

Does the real NSX-R have two shims (just wondering)?

Can get it for you in i guess 2 weeks.
Let me know. It doesn't hurry as it takes some months until I have to drop my gearbox for the clutch. Thanks again.
