I need to know how exactly to jump start an NSX properly because I dont have a manual and people on here say to use the fuse box where the engine is located soooo where exactly on the fuse box do I attach the cable?

Yes, it's in the fuse box in the engine compartment under a black plastic cover. The negative connection point is on the intake manifold.

Why does Honda emphasise these as jumper points ? To stop us simply pulling the spare out and putting jumper leads directly on the battery posts (what I've done several times, no big deal, no problems) ... Why? Is there more to this than meets the eye?

Even with the spare tire out, the spare tire bracket (Ground) is VERY close to the positive lead. That is a disaster waiting to happen, for a person who is not educated in electrical pre-cautions:).

The back area is easy to get to and the two jumper leads can be far apart.

Well considering your username maybe this is the route you want to go:tongue:, but because you are leaning over, etc, you stand more chance of touching the positive cable to metal in that area, or having it slip.

btw why do you have your car listed as a 1990 NSX?

I think in some countries the year of the car is registered according to the year it was built. As we all know, they are already selling 2010 models that are being built in this current year.

ha ha.... despite my username I always use jumper leads with great care and so far no fireworks

I agree with you (and Larry) that doing it in the engine bay is less risky. Anyway you've all answered my question, that there's no other big risk if one (carefully) jumps on the battery direct. thanks

my car was actually built in December 1990 (as shown on build plate) although it's strictly "model year 1991" ...

Hi Larry

Yes I had to do a little mod there. The battery is now secured and this will never be a problem. It was not the spare tire bracket. But the two thingys that hold the battery in place which could create a disaster.

Regards

Thanks for the lesson on the proper location of the negative cable. I probably have seen it 100 times but never realized that is what it was for. I've always just used that bracket holding that vacuum valve by the throttle body.
