NSX posters

I was sorting through one of my closets the other day cleaning out old posters and calendars when I came across an old souvenir poster calendar that I had purchased at the Honda gift shop in Twin Ring Motegi, Japan in 1999. This afternoon I took the calendar apart and purchased a frame for each of the posters. Now I have some new artwork for the garage!

Each one is quite large (see my key and remote sitting on top) and measures 28 inches x 20 inches. Two of them depict the Castrol/Mugen NSX (oil painting of NSX in pit and photo of NSX on track) and the other two are related to Honda F1 (photos of steering wheel and oil painting of motor).

If anyone here is interested I may be able to get copies made. However my local Kinkos says that it'll cost up to $50-60 per copy!!! Any other ideas?

I'd consult with an art gallery before Kinkos to see if they can suggest any ideas, or you can just sell them as is to me if you want.

I'm sure someone on this board has access to a large format color printer... The only thing I need to figure out is how to get them scanned in first.

Anyway... if there isn't much interest I'll just leave them up on my garage wall and be done with it. I just figured that since these are so unique I'd let all the forum members have a chance at having a copy of their own.

I'd be interested in a copy (or even better the original) of the Castrol/Mugen NSX on the race track. Email me at mbox_tmp at hotmail.com if you're interested in selling. (It's a throw away email address to avoid spam at my permanent email coordinates.)

I have received e-mail and PM from a few interested people who asked for individual photos of the posters. So here goes:

***IMAGES REMOVED DUE TO COPYRIGHT CONCERNS*** (sorry!)

I'm not interested in selling my originals. Neither am I interested in making any profit from these posters. I just wanted to give everyone an opporunity to have these NSX posters in their garages.

Since Sockeye may have some connections with regard to large format printing I'll try to work something out with him. $50-60 seems a bit steep for a color copy...

Word to the wise - be aware of potential copyright violations when duplicating artwork/photos/graphics that you did not create.

Hmmm. As would be the use of the NSX logo on this site... And many of the signature artwork/photos of countless members on this site. And many of the body kit replica pieces on members cars. Not to mention the electronic/scanned version of the NSX (Helm, Inc) shop manual that may seem to have. Alas how should I contact the creator of the artwork when there is no copyright information provided on the posters themselves? And the posters were only sold as a calander in 1999 in Japan... Oh the dilemma...

Perhaps I shall just keep them for myself and avoid the entire issue then. Sorry to get everyone's hopes up...

What you are proposing is different than the items to which you draw comparisons. Personally, I do not care what you do but I thought I would offer some free advice that you should be mindful of announcing an intention to infringe upon a copyright on an internet forum.

Those posters are awesome!! I would love to have them if you have any extras....let me know. :)

RSO,

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate your concern and as an artist by hobby with several artist (as profession) friends I know where you are coming from. It would be one thing if these items were accessible for sale (now or in the past) in the states or if I was intending on making a business of selling them. But that was not my intention at all. As far as I know they appeared in a calendar for the Japanese market once in 1999 and are not available anymore. I's supoose if I could get my hands on some more original calendars that would be ideal.

*****Update*****

I have contacted the US affiliate for Mugen products (King Motorsports) in regard to the copyright issues. I am awaiting their reply before proceeding.

Motegi,

I'm sure there are many people interested in copies of your wonderful posters. I plan on sprucing up my garage NSX style later this year; however, if this will somehow put you in hot water, then let's brainstorm another idea.

If you can get originals sent to people of interest then by all means count me in. I admire the fact that you are not looking to make any kind of profit; rather, share some NSX/Honda love with your fellow NSX/Honda brethren.

I wish I could offer some advice about what you should do; however, this is not my forte. Either way, however, you can come up with posters like those, I am VERY interested.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks
