You see alot of the exotic stuff here used here for D.A.R.E. events.

There was once a thread on prime about exotic police cars. If I get bored I will look for it later but I have three other forums to go to and new posts to read so be back later.

Why are those things on the hood?

Those are "sushi deflectors". Often when involved in a high speed pursuit, the bad guys will hurl large quantities of sushi at the police car chasing them. When the sushi impacts the windshield it creates a sticky gooey mess that severely impairs the pursuing officer's vision.

Even though getting “pulled over” is very rare here in Europe, in Holland it sometimes happens. We had the pleasure of getting pulled over there by a 911 Targa a few years ago. We came over the border from Belgium at about 160kph and saw them just in time to slow down.
The 2 cops in it had the top off and had motorcycle helmets on. I asked them why they had a fast car, they said it’s for the acceleration, not for the top speed. Yeah, right. And why did they have the top off? They said they feel “closer” to the traffic when the car is open.
I didn't have a camera with me at the time.

I think This would be cool, if we could replace the gallardo with the NSX police car.

The original page that the Japanese pics came from:

http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~airroute/stm_p/

Seems to be an annual review of the police force for Saitama prefecture.

According to the captions, many of the fast cars are part of the freeway traffic division. :)

Those are some pretty nice bikes too!

Yes thats all good, but still what are the deflectors used for. I know they are not used for sushi deflectors

em, what's an "e-gear"?

You don't have a clutch (not manual gears) but shift a gear through F1 like "pads" on back of a steeringwheel.

You know, like Ferrari 360 Modena F1 and Aston Martin Vanquish.

It's called "e-gear" at VAG-group/Lamborghini, other manufacturers have other definitions of it, like "F1 gears"

Correct me if I'm wrong.

(I don't like e-gears. Lamborghini is (was?) a hardcore supercar but with these kind of things it's too much electronic comfort stuff...)

And Gallardo doesn't have the Lamborghini doors either

safety...

Haven't seen this posted before, thought I'd upload it for posterity's sake...

Interesting paint-scheme... perhaps would look kuhl on a road-going widebody conversion, ala' JGTC-style!

Anymore information on these? Is the NSX police car still around there? It would have to be getting some seriously high mileage by now.

I've seen a viper cop car here in kansas, once.
