NSX Only Track Day @ Buttonwillow

Hey guys. Great time this weekend. It was nice seeing everyone enjoying their NSXs at Button!

I took a bunch of photos throughout the day and was able to capture shots of most everyones cars. You can view all the pics on my facebook here. Message me with your email if you'd like any high-resolution versions of the pics.

Thanks again Regan for organizing everything. Some of my favorite pics from the event:

Looking back at the day... it was one of the best days i've ever had in the NSX and it had little to do with the car itself. Not a single car had any major issues but I can assure you all the jacks, jack stands, sockets, torque wrenches, and air pressure gauges were in heavy use. I'm so glad everyone seemed to be ok with the format. This was a day to enjoy the car in a calm, courteous, and easy going atmosphere. I know many who came out have not taken out their NSXs on the track for many many years and likely have faster "track" cars at home, while some had never taken their cars out on the track at all. Good times guys!

Most of all... I'm so thankful the instructors were so generous with their time and sharing knowledge. It would not have been so worthwhile without you guys involved.

Hundreds of pics on Facebook. Thanks for also sharing here Mike! I didn't get a chance to take a single one myself. Hope to see many more.

Congrats RYU on a successful day. It looks like there was a great turnout, no major wrecks or injuries, and no a$$hole drivers.

Sorry I couldn't make it, but look forward to this perhaps becoming a regular occurrence. NSXs were meant to live on the track!

Thank you Regan for planning this again...

The day was so busy I don't think I even had time to eat...

I was powering myself with water and gatorade all day haha...

It was nice meeting everyone and it was definitely a blast!

Yes, thanks again Regan for putting this together. I hope I didn't hold any of you up too long. Being out there with the faster cars definitely helped me be more conscious of when cars were approaching from behind...I think I was pretty quick about giving point-bys.

And, likewise, I only had time to snack and stay hydrated...barely had time to take pics. Since I skipped the third session, I do have shots of our group, but I realized afterwards that I didn't take pics of cars other than NSXs.

Thanks Regan for organizing this, and everyone that took pictures and video, I had a blast. My NSX has not seen Buttonwillow for 10 years, I didn't realize how much fun this car can be over there. Going to work on getting some fresh tires and I think the car can do a 2:00 with 215/40/17 in front.

No problem guys. My pleasure really.

Si - Looks like a 1:58 is possible on NT-05 street tires! (235/275) Anything under a 2:05 is super fast in my book.

This was on the old track too.

Is there a separate thread for photos? Or is everyone going to include theirs here?

Here's a taste:

I'm trying to get through my pics sooner than later. I didn't take THAT many this time

It was good seeing everyone out there. I don't think I met everyone but it was good too see so many people out there on track! Everyone had the right attitude and it was a lot of fun all around. Big ups to Regan for putting it all together, it was more work than some people recognize and it went off flawlessly. Cant wait too see some more pictures and footage. Next time I'll make sure to have my car ready to get out there on track with everyone.

I had been looking forward to this past weekend at Buttonwillow for awhile and the "NSX Trackday" totally exceeded my expectations.

Running with so many other NSXs felt like a real life Best Motoring video and being able to view different interpretations of the NSX in the paddock was a unique experience.

I want to thank Regan for organizing the event, not only did ensure everything ran super smooth but he also helped me strap down my car on the trailer (nice guy!).

A few of my highlights of the day were meeting a lot of the owners (Regan, Adrian, Eddie, Eric I., Mike B.), chatting with Colin again, running with Mike and Si in the last session and riding with Ryan in his super fast Sebring. Overall it was the most fun I've had at a trackday in a long time.

Thanks to everybody who went for being so cool to a Norcal guy.

Will,
Thanks again for the tips and ride along bro. Aside from better lines and proper shift points, Will went as far as getting me to sit properly and steer more concisely. It was a lot of fine tuning, but such a great session. Unfortunately, my phone didn't get the lap times, but it felt faster than any session all day. Big props to a great instructor.

On another note, please take your time with that memory card for Ryan's videos. Just PM me when you're done with the footage. Thanks again to Regan for getting the event together and all the guys like Will who made the event that much better.

Kenny

*edit* props to my garage mate / roomie Colin for lending me tools and reserving the garage.

First want to thank Regan for all the work you did in setting this event up. I know how much effort goes into doing something like this, so THANKS again.

I had a great time as did everyone from what I could tell. Good seeing people I know and meeting some for the first time.

Also want to thank Jonathan, Ryan and Will for their instruction from the passenger seat, I learned a lot but know I still have a lot to work on. It was a lot of info to take in in one day but I think I did okay, drop 31 seconds from first lap to last lap. Riding passenger with both Jonathan and Ryan also helped me with better lap times on my next sessions. I can see where staying for a second day would have helped too. Being able to process all that happened after a nights sleep would have helped in doing even better the next day.

BTW Ryan, you have some serious driving skills out on the track, that was the best 8 minutes (4 laps) ever in a NSX for me. The only thing close to that adrenaline rush was my ride with Joanthan a session earlier who is also very fast. To bad Will wasn't able to bring his car, I would have loved to ride with him also.

Your photos are always beautiful Eric. You should start a new thread to get some new eyeballs. Would be a shame not to show them to others not following this thread :)

I don't have time to start a thread with my pics right now...so click on the pic to go to my site.

Great meeting and running with you Jeff! You were really hustling that stock NA1 around and definitely didn't need an "X"!

Mike

Great event...I know exactly how you guys felt sharing that day at the track.....

Agree with everyone's sentiments regarding an awesome track day; thank you Regan for all the coordination efforts! Ryan I greatly appreciated the instruction and ride along, now I full comprehend how your NSX remains competitive with GT3s; amazing driver!
