I have a 92 NSX and a 2001 E46 M3. I have had zero issues with either cars and have had both on the track. Although the NSX is now my dedicated track car, I have not been driving it on the streets too much lately.
Both great cars, and I guess it is what you are looking for. You rarely see many NSX's in these necks of the woods, thus it is a very unique car.
On the other hand, the M3 can fit 4 people comfortably, plus your gold clubs in the back trunk.
Only thing I can say is stay away from the evo 8 (unless you are in your early 20's and like the boy-racer look)
Additionally, the 997 is far better of a car then the 996. If you really like the 996, stay away from the earlier years.
I have a friend that owns a Porsche dealership that told me this!!!
