NSX KILLED by VR4

Whatever, they also said that they waisted an NSX in a Subaru Legacy. Not even worth a reply. That conversation would go nowhere. What would you rather drive?

If you modify a Yugo enough it can beat a NSX. I read the story and there are too many variables that can affect this so-called race that took place. Before I go on it should be noted that the race was started in 3rd gear roll on. At what speed??? Obviously at the lower rpm's the VR4's turbo's would spool up almost immediately and should have the car pull hard whereas we all now an NSX's weak point is it's lower rpm pull, and roll ons at highway speed only exagerate this. Was the VR4 modified, if so how much, was the nsx modified, how were the cars running that day? did either car have an extra 500lbs in trunk?
I wouldn't worry about the post, even if the NSX lost, which stock to stock I don't think it would but if it did VR4's are fairly quick. I know of many that can easily dip under 13 sec 1/4miles (modified of course).
Besides those cars a pigs, I'd hate to see one try to follow me up to whistler...can you say "see yah"!

Also makes you wonder when one is driving along in a lazy way and a kid pulls up and then accelerates. I usually don't give them a second thought, but maybe in their minds they think they were "racing" an NSX and go boast about it.

And judging by the way they write and the words they use, those have got to be kids.

Dreaming of the day when technology will allow you to remotely slap someone's face over the internet...

Yeah, I believe it. I have a V6 Mustang, with a K&N Airfilter. Plus I have a cool stereo, and I raced this VIPER one time, and I totally blew past him. I mean if I can beat a Viper, why not have a VR-4 beat an NSX? Not to mention my friend with his CIVIC, he is a real racer, he has an exhaust can on there that gives him like 600 hp. He regularly DUSTS Vipers, NSX's, Ferarri's. It has been known to happen

Seriously though, I agree with the general overtone here. It is possible, the VR-4 is powerful. However, it is a moot point. the VR-4 advocates will say the VR-4 is king, the NSXers will say the NSX is king.

I havent even read this VR4 dusts an NSX thing yet, but I do know one thing. I dont go into Integra Forum's to brag about how I bet an Integra. Why? Because its not THAT special for me to have beaten an Integra. On the otherhand, if I owned a souped up Integra and beat an NSX, I just might go into an internet forum and brag about it. Why? Because it is an accomplishment, and a rare thing. It isnt every day you see an Integra dust an NSX.

Ok, I just read that entire thread, and there are some valid points made. But really, Both are nice cars and to each their own.
Ok I'll shut up now.

I was driving very quickly a few months back on a dark deserted fairly straight road, when I came upon a large SUV. I probably came up on him at roughly 90 or 100mph and not really realising how fast I was going ended up slamming on my brakes about 5 car lengths behind him. To my Horror his license plate read "190-WSP". Something clicked in my brain...WSP=Washington State patrol. Well to make a long story short, he pulled me over (No ticket) and gave me a lecture on driving safely.

The entire time, the thing that was going through my mind was "My TAX DOLLARS are going toward THAT Luxury Sport Utility vehicle so ONE police officer can sit in a 9 person car and pull ME over!! What a waste of money."

Ok, that was a bit off topic...but I had to get that story out.
Anyone in the WA area keep an eye out. There are unmarked cars of various makes and models with "WSP" on their license plates hunting you and me down!!

Guys, I know it's kinda hard to believe but Vr4's are sweet cars. How do I know..coz I own one myself. I am not here to start a flame war or anything..as a matter of fact I am in love with NSXs....Been for over 3 years now. But Just letting you know that don't underestimate the Vr4's. Yup they are heavy, but they are not slow.

ohh and Jon69 they run 13.6's I believe all day long STOCK form.

As a prolific person on many boards, I would like to say thank you to those people who posted on 3si.org and were very polite and decent.
I think the NSX was my favorite "dream car" until I bought my Stealth. I looked into getting one used many times, but when it came down to it, I just didn't have the cash... of course, if I had known the obsession that an AWD Turbo car would start, I probably would have been better off with a stock NSX!!!

I like the attitude of this board, and I hope those of you that journey'd over to mitsu-land will continue to! We have people from Rx7 boards, Supra boards, Vette boards, as well as fbods, stangs, and even maxima's ( HEH HEH )

And just to let it be known, yeah, we are rather big boned, 1st gens run in the 3700-3800lbs class... big, but not so portly as one would think (Supra- 3500-3600lbs! and everyone knows they are unbeatable
wink.gif
)

Stock 1st gen's run 14-13.5 (typical is around 13.7) 2nd gens run 13.6-13.3's... However BPU that and the HP jumps to around 300HP at the wheels and both gens can start pulling 12's.

From there??? I should be starting a good mid/low 12 when all the mods get tuned. NIGHTMARE (fellow 3/S'er in MD) should have a pretty little 11 second slip in his hand (which would make him the fastest STOCK turbo'd 3/S without NOS) when ATCO gets underway. For real fun, check the DSM Shootout in July, we should have over 50 cars in the classes and look for some record breaking 10's and 9's perhaps lower! (we have had a good year from the after market and exposure)

Mostly... enjoy your cars, whatever it is, and have fun!

Stock- Twin Turbos, Twin Intercoolers, All Wheel Drive, All Wheel Steering

In absolute terms, there will always be someone better and faster, however, I take great pride in the fact that the NSX is the fastest normally aspirated 6 cylinder production car on the planet!! Everything else needs more cylinders or a power adder (supercharger, turbo, or NOS) to beat the NSX.

3000GT VR-4 in my opinion is a muscle car.
It's fast in straight line I know that because my friend has a BPU Stealth with exhaust, BOV, boost controller, airintake and..etc. However, I'd rather have a Supra, RX-7 or even Corvette over the 3000GT/Stealth anyday because for the same amount of money which you spend on the 3000GT/Stealth you can make the cars above much faster, and they also look 10 times better.

I recently gave up my VR4 for an NSX. Granted, the VR4 was a faster car in a straight line, but what the NSX has is balance. Great handling, acceleration, braking, all in a very eye-catching package. A great sports car needs to have balance, which I believe the NSX has. What the NSX has that all the other cars don't have, is reliability. The peace of mind that the car will always start when I turn the key, something that I never got from the VR4.

You made a very good decision Ryan. I sold my '95 Spyder VR-4 with lots of mods and bought a '94 NSX. There is no comparison between the two cars; period!

Enjoy your NSX.

C'mon, I had my Stealth ES for a bit then the VR4 - while surely a nice and quick car, I can't even conceive of comparing it to an NSX.

Traded my Stealth for a new gen RX-7, certainly an upgrade. That was 8 years ago. Last trade was a 996 for the NSX, again certainly an upgrade.

Enough said.

. The S2000 is a great baby sister for the NSX, but no comparison in looks.

I've a S2000 too and it's no doubt "one of the best" cars in the world, but no way it can compare with NSX.

Better yet, go post in an S2000 forum, instead of trying to start an argument here.
