This is my dad's (gerardvansanten) NSX, but he is working together with me and Gerrit (owner of the Ferrari Bodyrepairshop Holland)

Here's the story

In October there was the NSX & Hondasportscar Trophy 2005. We participated of course. Year in year out we were the eternal second, behind the prototype NSX van Didier, but always won in our category (modifee). This year it was at last differently, in the first race our NSX qualified as 6th. This because my dad (our driver) wanted to qualifie with slicks, despite the rain. For the second race we stood on pole! Thanks too the wet tires. Saturday afternoon the first race started. Starting from 6th, he climed to the 3th position after the first corner. After the 2e round he already was 2nd, just behind the race S2000 of Markus Fugel. On the straights and on the back part of the circuit our NSX was faster than S2000. This also became clear from the round times; 3.08 for Fugel and 3.05 for the NSX. But Fugel continued drive well defending lines. Then it went wrong in the 3e round. He entered Blanchimont, the fastest corner of franchorchamps and possibly the fastest corner in the world, he entered the corner with a too high speed and came with his right back tire on the curbs. With + 200 km/h he spun right into the barrier. Race 1 had expired... When the car came in after the race, we had approximately an hour prepare it for the 2e the race. Where we had poleposition. This fortunately succeeded and we could go of with a something battered NSX. The 2e race was not real stretching, untill the last 2 laps. Our NSX lay the complete race 20 seconden behind Fugel. Suddenly in the last lap we lay flat behind Fugel and could catch up with him and overtook him on the last straight. The first complete victory (my father drives in Modifee and Fugel in Proto) was a fact!

The parts have arrived!

We are still working on the fitment of the parts. The Taitec parts fit perfectly, only the Yokota and Marga Hills parts need some adjustments...

I updated the first post :)

We had to modify the Marga Hills sideskirts to get the fitment right, as you can see in the pictures.
Now we only have to modify the Yokota fenders.

thanks for sharing the story and pictures. keep us posted with more.

I'm more and more curious as if the Widebody kit can be a DIY bolt on.

Great writeup. Absolutly amazing work from you and your father and the bodyshop.

Do I see a 550 Maranello and another NSX in the background? :)

On the left you see a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and on the right you see the NSX of our passed away friend Guus ("Mother Goose").
Gerrit (the owner of the shop) is rebuiliding the car. Guus crashed (totalled) his beautifull white NSX a few months before he passed away.

Gerrit does allmost all the work on both cars and is the owner of the only certified Ferrari Bodyshop in the Netherlands that is allowed to do repair work on aluminum Ferraris.

Here is our artist:

That is a very similar setup I have on my car with the Yokata front fenders, marga hills skirts and taitec rear fenders. Unlike your experience, my Yokata pieces were WAY better fit and finish than the Taitec rear fenders--especially that fuel filler door joke. I've posted pix of the setup before, but it's been a few years. When I get it back from GJ, I'll post again. Congrats on your progress. It's worth it in the end.

Ah ok I see. I'm not that familiar with Ferraris.

I'm very sorry to hear that about your friend Guus.

What color are you guys planning on painting it?
At first I thought black would be nice. I love the black NSX of DutchBlackNSX. But than I looked at the car and all the pictures of this nice red supercar. So I decided to paint it red as it is with nice powdercoated special color dark metalgun grey Technos.

The project is almost finished. My Technos wheels are at the paintshop. The wheels will be black powdercoated. So my OZ Superleggeras will do the job for now. The rear isn't finished yet. A GT500 Wing is in back order and diffusers will be handmade.
At the pictures you see the bonnet is painted black. I will return to red this week, because I myself think a red bonnet with a red car is the way to go. But I had to see it first.

In the backround you see the famous Ferrari GTO. This Ferrari is worth more than $ 12,000,000:eek:  The owner (Kroymans) is the Ferrari distributor in Holland and does track racing with this car.

Congrats on the finished product, it looks sweet!

Thank you very much for the photographs and documented write-up of the re-build!

One question I do have is what prompted you to do the widebody?

Was it for performance at the track or was it more cosmetic...

The reason I ask is that most widebody panels weigh more than the OEM Aluminium ones so most widebody conversions are more for show cars and not normally race cars like yours... But a widebody NSX will be able to fit wider wheels on it as well.... Hence my question Gerard. (I know about JGTC cars all being widebody but they have different suspensions and well different everything to the road cars...)

that was FAST.......how long was the build? it look awesome, and I love the pics of your NSX in race action. your right, keep it redif you want an Exotic...it must be a Red NSX.

thanks for all your time on posting again. I wish my widebody project was this fast.

please lets us know when you race again and take more pics.

God Bless

I would paint her front white, the middle let red and the back black. Looks very sexy then. :D
