I am curious how much I can expect to pay in insurance. Looking at a 95 NSX.

18 MALE.
Never have had a ticket etc. Also have never had my own insurance (one of those people who drives everyone elses car)

lol, so I figure it's time to get one. And the NSX doesn't seem like a bad choice. Now I cant afford a brand new one but a 95 seems a good start.

Insurance rates depend on many variables such as what company you choose, your age, driving record and location. There were several threads on this topic before and the rates provided from Prime members varied so greatly because of these factors. Your best bet is to contact insurance companies that service your area and obtain quotes.

I have, They all want to sell me insurance before giving me a price. That really pisses me off. Can some people just give me an idea of what they pay etc? I am thinking $1,300 a month but may be well off. This was going to be the price on a Z06 but I changed my mine and after seeing a NSX on the streets smoke me in a older vette, after that I wanted one.

Then you're not talking to reputable companies. Any reputable company won't require a purchase to quote a price.

If you already have a car, ask your current insurer how much it would cost for a '95 NSX.

Oh no, not AGAIN!!!

$1300 per MONTH? To be honest, I think you should just buy a normal car cash and pay basic liability. Why on earth would you pay an insurance company $16000 per year to drive an 8 year old car? Plus, thinking that the NSX isnt a "bad choice" as a first car because one smoked you while you were in an old Vette sounds like a recipe for disaster. Imagine the premium with a few tickets and an accident!

On another note, I gotta find out the new secret and get reincarnated! I've never seen so many 16-20 year old kids that are doing 10x better than adults in a bad economy!

Well if this helps, my insurance is $97 per month for a 28 year old unmarried male, with no traffic tickets or accidents, for a '91 NSX in Orange County (Anaheim CA). This is for comprehensive with a $500 deduct.

I'm a 30 year old single male and I live in the NYC suburbs and I'm going to be paying $2060/year for a 2003 NSX.

My last car, a MR2 Spyder cost me around $1400/year, so this is an increase, but not so bad.

"I am thinking $1,300 a month but may be well off."

Sorry, but I think that's an outrageous amount to pay for insurance. I hope that's a typo. $1300 a year sounds more reasonable. Which insurance company is this?

Here's a little more data for you...
I'm a 23 year old male. I've had 1 accident about 4 years ago (stays on record for 3 years I believe...?) and I've also had 2 speeding tickets in the past 3 years. I live in MA and the insurance company classifies me as an average driver. I pay about $2000/year with all the normal coverages, $500 deductable.

I am a 28 yr old male, no tkts or accidents and I pay $1400.00 for the whole year for a 94 NSX and an 89 CRX SI Hybrid. Full coverage on both.

Yes, you may be well off the mark. Or, you may be well off - in which case, count your blessings. :D

Note - I see you found out your insurance would be $5,600 per year.

I pay $57 per month for my '91, full coverage, $500 deductible. I'm 33, single, no accidents ever, and no tickets in the last 3 years.

It blows my mind that insurance rates can be so high in NYC and other places. I consider myself lucky to be in little 'ol Sacramento, where the days are hot and the rates are cheap....

...and the NSXs are plentiful, and the owners are friendly, and the Acura dealer has great parts prices and service, and there's a top-notch independent mechanic with terrific NSX expertise, and the NSXPO 2003 (Oct 8-12) will be very close by.

Oh yeah, that too! Man, this is NSX Nirvana! Hehe :D

Insurance is killing me....

31 yr old male, married, no accidents, but 5 tickets in last 3 years(3 speeders, stop sign, seat belt) in SoCal= $2600 a year:eek:

I had a bad streak in 2001, so by this time next year, barring anymore tix, it will be half of that next year.....

39 y.o. male, no accidents, no points, 2 ex-wives(they keep asking me about that) - $1275/yr full coverage.

Grundy Worldwide

Has anyone here given Grundy Worldwide a try. Looks like they might be an option for those of us who don't use our car as a daily driver. I need to do a bit more checking, but the online quote for a modified 92 with an agreed-to value of 30k, 300k liability, comp and collision was 453 per year.

BTW, I currently pay 800 per year w/State Farm.

31 year old Male. At least 1 ticket within the past 3 years. Full converage with $500 deductable on collision and comprehensive with State Farm for $89/Month on a 1992 NSX.

Grundy sucks. I called them before purchasing my NSX, and they said they would insure it for $400/year. However, when I called them to write the policy *after* buying my NSX, I was told (by a different cust. service rep & her supervisor) that they don't cover the NSX.

I ended up going with American Hobbyist for $410/yr.

Of course, if you had followed the Forums Nazi's advice you would've known that already:

American Hobbyist has a very STRICT guideline as to how the car would be used in order from them to insure it.

When I was inquiring about them, I was told that the maximum allowable mileage per year is 3,000 AND the car can only be driven in NSX club events. You can't even go down to the 7-eleven and get a slurpee with it.

They were adamant about that!
So I said thank you and went to the nearest AAA for auto insurance.

PHOEN$X, your car must be a garage queen! :D
