NSX FIESTA: 20th Anniversary celebrations in Japan

Actually, because of the time difference if you leave tuesday you arrive tuesday.

I am looking at a flight that arrives in the New York area 90 minutes BEFORE I actually take off from Tokyo.

Depart:
5:45 p.m.
Tue., Nov. 23, 2010
Tokyo, Japan (NRT - Narita)

Arrive:
4:20 p.m.
Tue., Nov. 23, 2010
New York/Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty)

Travel Time:
12 hr 35 mn

Curses on you and your 12 hour direct(ish) flights. I looked and I've got two layovers which makes a long flight even longer. Meh, no biggie.

From the revised dates, it looks like this is a two day event rather than the original seven. Couple questions:

1. Is there a revised schedule as well (tech sesssions, track, etc)?
2. Are the recommended hotels the same taking into consideration the revised schedule?

Thanks for your help, Hirofumi!

I want to say this, too.
You can arrive on same day.

I recommend you to return to Tokyo,
and stay in Tokyo or Narita after Fiesta.
You can fly next day.

Japan Airlines
JL010
Depart from Narita(NRT) 11:35 on Nov.23
Arrive at Chicago(ORD) 08:00 on Nov.23

I will consider more.

Hirofumi

Gotcha...the actual Fiesta event is two days, which is listed, and the preceeding days are the tech and track, etc, events.

Oh, that's so much better, because NOBODY travels on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving...

They planned this on the worst possible dates for Americans, ones that will make the trip much more expensive (and difficult) to attend.

The pricing was comparable whether this week or the week before and since leaving is not an issue on their end with the holiday, once we are in the air the fact that it is thanksgiving week should not make too much of a difference.

You're missing the point. They could have made it a week earlier and there would have been no conflicts with our holiday travel crunch. But they didn't.

They were tied into the dates that Honda wanted and since we are merely guests at their event it would seem that they did quite well with planning the additional touring part of the event for the week prior to enable as many of us as possible to come over.

If you are in Tulsa you should be able to get there with only one layover by flying into Houston, Continental's hub, and getting a direct flight from houston to tokyo.

Thank you Hirofumi-san.
Thanksgiving or not, I'm going to NSX Fiesta.
Do we all book the hotel/transportation individually or is there a group rate?

Thanks - I had my travel agent look and there are direct flights from Dallas/ Fort Worth and Chicago using my preferred carrier. So only one layover from Tulsa. And only $877 to boot.

I took this non-stop flight a few times in the past, it is about 14.5 hrs from Houston to Narita. I will most likely book my flight with Continental Airlines. It would be great if another prime member was on the same flight.

Nick, im scheduled to go back offshore tues Nov 23rd. I am going to try to make this event. My company flys me with continental. Let me know your itinerary, if im able to set foot in the US by mon evening or EARLY tues morning, i'll fly with you.

Well I wanted to be the first kid on my prime block to get a ticket so I booked my airline now before the frequent flyer comp seats are all taken. My airline doesn't charge for any changes made at least 21 days prior to the trip so I figured I better lock in my free ticket now.

Coming in early to tour Kyoto the weekend before in case any other Primates will be in early as well.

Although it is still far off, I have been contacted by one member already who will be traveling solo and would be interested in pairing up to share a hotel room and cut the expenses down.

As we get closer, if there are other solo travelers would be interested in sharing rooms we will start a separate thread and try to work out arrangements to pair people up.

Thank you Hirofumi-san.

I am arranging now. Please wait for awhile.
I recommend you to stay in Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa.
http://www.princehotels.com/en/takanawa/

Limousine bus goes to this hotel from Narita airport(NRT) directly.
It takes 1.5 hours and fare is JPY3,000.

You can go to everywhere you want to go from this hotel.
You can walk to Shinkansen station "Shinagawa".

Kye, Simon, Ben,
Do you have any ideas?

Regards,
Hirofumi

I recommend you to visit and stay in historical city Kyoto.
Over 50 million people visit there every year.
I was born in Kyoto, so I can escort you.

Thank you for your very kind offer, Hirofumi. We would greatly appreciate your guidance during our early arrival.

We have plans to arrive in Narita on the 14th and then hope to take the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto that evening so that we can stay in Kyoto that night and Monday night. This will allow us two days to tour Kyoto.

We were considering staying at Hotel Granvia Kyoto. Any recommendations of Kyoto hotels?

I'm interested to join the trip to Japan and attend NSX Fiesta this year.
To attend NSX Fiesta, do we need to get invitation or sign up like for NSXPO ?

I am assuming there will be participant fees to cover the cost of activities for NSX Fiesta. (much like NSXPO) Has that amount been figured out as well?

Hotel Granvia Kyoto is located above Kyoto station.
Is room rate expensive, isn't it?
I can suggest you RIHGA Royal Hotel.
http://www.rihga.com/kyoto/index.html
You can take shuttle bus from station
or walk 5 min to hotel.

Are you interested in Japanese style "Ryokan".
You sleep on Tatami-mat:biggrin:.

Attention!!
In autumn many visitors will visit and stay in Kyoto,
so it is very hard to make reservation.
