I have posted before in other threads about the Autocrosses throught the NYPorsche club, aka PCA Metro NY. We had another AX this past Sunday and low and behold a Brooklands green NSX pulls up in the company of some S2000s and a MR2. It was s14tat! It was Tats first event and after he figured out it is a 2nd gear only drive he did quite well.

I recommend we try to get more NSXs to this event. It is a lot of fun and you really do not need any previous experience to do it, just ask Tat.

The events are open to other cars, not just Porsches, as a matter of fact, other cars make up over half the field. Tough economic times must be contributing to the decline in participation.

The next event is Sunday September 19. Go to metronypca.org and click under Autocross and you can get all the particular info. They limit the field to 120 cars but we haven't got even half of that all year so you will be able to participate without a problem.

It is a safe way to have fun in the car and you have to really be a bone head to hurt it, it's almost impossible. Not that it can't be done but close to impossible.

Hope to see more of you out there. Sorry no pics, where is Bob or Tony when you need them, maybe next time.

It was a pleasure to speak to you Tytus, I did try to look for your previous post about the auto X and I was going to just bump that thread with the update from yesterday. For some reason I could not find it, but yes is very fun, I hope to one day beat a few porsches that is out on that field. We should get more NSX's out there to represent the community.

This is a perfectly safe environment to push your car. The event was very well organized, and we got up and running in no time. Since the event is relatively local, the fuel cost and tolls are minimal and the entrance fee for non members are $40 with a $10 helment rental fee. You get 8-9 runs per day which is a lot better than going drag racing where you wait for 5 hours to do 3 runs that last 13-14 seconds lol.

I will stop by, Doubt my car will ever hit the course but I will come out to enjoy watching.

Yeah definitely stop by, you'll mostly likely see me and Tytus there. Tytus will be in his 996 turbo.

as it turns out, we have some photos from the events.

these guys all either hit 60 and under seconds on street tires. most of the cars that was hitting those times were running on slicks. Tytus was able to hit 59 seconds on his last run. I only ran a 63.1

Sounds like fun! A friend of mine goes to this and he also said it is very safe. I would come and check it out on 9/19. :)

Great that your freinds had the foresight to take some pics; thanks guys. And see, hardly any Porsches in sight.

Tytus

Man that green car is sweet! I bet simon wants to go just to get a closer look at it.

Tutus, how did you do in your class?

Me and Simon had met twice, we have the exact same last names too. It was such a weird coincidence!! Tytus got first in his class with a lap time of 59 seconds. Congrats.

That was no accident, she was trying to upgrade her man the easy way.

Great, hope to see you and more NSXs there.

I was actually at the most recent one with the BMWCCA this labor day weekend. This course was much more open and my driving has definitely improved.

Let's make an NSX get tgether out of the event planned for this weekend. Again the event is at the Nassau Colisuem this Sunday September 19 starting at 8:00 AM for registration. Cost is $40 for Non PCA members, $30 for members plus $10 for a helmet rental if you don't have one. A great deal for about 10 timed track runs. No special equipment required, some guys and gals run Saturns, buicks and dodge colts. And some run some serious machinery.

All in all it is at least a great meet and greet. If you never did anything like this before you are in for a treat as it is safe and fun.

Go to the www.metronypca.org web site and click the Autocross section for more info.

I'll see y'all there.

Tytus

CRAP! I just learned that the Nassau Colisseum has forced PCA Metro to postpone the Autocross this weekend from Sunday the 19th to Saturday September 25. If you go to the PCA website you will see the main page date change, they haven't changed it on the Autocross page yet.

Now I gotta see if I can make that date!

Sorry for those that were planning to attend.

Tytus

Yeah I was already aware of that. I have to be at a wedding on the 25th which sucks.

Just a reminder, as previously posted, anyone else going to attend this event on Saturday? I will be there from about 7:30 AM on, it would be fun to see some more NSXs attending.

Hope to see some of you there. BTW you can buy breakfast and lunch on the spot there in case anyone was wondering. The weather should be great so get out and drive.

Tytus

If you read above the previous posts you will see all the info. You should get there no later than 8:00 AM as you should walk the course at least 3 times before you run it. Up to you if you want to or not but it is highly recommended.

The cost is $40 for Non PCA members and they will rent a helmet for $10. Go on the web site identified above and get all the requirements and tips on autocrossing if you are interested. You can fill out the application there or down load one off the site.

Hope to see you there.

Tytus

How was the even guys? I have a friend who drives a blue Honda Fit with an engine swap that was there and told me there was like 4 nsx's there. I wish I was there to represent but I'm stuck at work instead of at the wedding.
